Acer Iconia Tab A110 for $ 230 available October 30

Acer Iconia Tab A110 - Jelly Bean

Acer has issued a press release where it has definitively priced its long-awaited Acer Iconia Tab A110 tablet. This tablet really highlights some of the shortcomings of Nexus 7 and is one of the few that after Google comes with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box. The cost to North American consumers will be a little higher than expected but still really reasonable. They will be able to buy one Acer Iconia Tab A110 for $ 230 as of October 30.

Acer Iconia Tab A110 - Jelly Bean

This tablet has very similar conditions to Nexus 7. They are identical in format, processor and operating system. There are more and more offers for tablets from 7 inches Very interesting, although most will have Ice Cream Sandwich for the moment or use modifications of this operating system such as Kindle Fire HD, Nook HD or Kobo Arc. Acer Iconia Tab A110 will be one of the first to carry Android 4.1. Jelly Bean as standard after Nexus 7. There are other less notable examples such as Ainol Novo 7 Crystal. In addition, it will have exactly the same processor as Nexus 7. It will have the same SoC NVIDIA Tegra 3 formed by a 4 GHz Quad Core 1-PLUS-1,2 CPU (there is a fifth auxiliary nucleus) and the 12-core GeForce GPU.

So far everything is the same, but then the differences begin. The most notable lack of the Taiwanese tablet is the screen with a somewhat lower resolution than the Google device,  1024 x 600 (170 ppi) by 1280 x 800 (216 ppi). And what is more, it does not incorporate IPS technology in its panel to offer a greater viewing angle, something so important in the contents. Another shortcoming is the NFC port that we do find on the Mountain View tablet. Its battery is also a little smaller, but having a lower resolution on its screen we will not notice so much difference in autonomy.

However, here the downsides end. Iconia Tab A110 can expand its storage by microSD card up to 32 GB, which we cannot say about its competitor. It is true that we will immediately see a Nexus 7 with 32 GB but we will have to pay more and we will not reach the 40 GB total of Acer's.

We found a port USB yes it is OTG (On the Go) this means that the connectivity to other devices and accessories will be much more extensive. We can even use a pendrive to access even more data. Most notable is that it does have HDMI to take videos to larger screens, so its function as a content player increases. Finally, its front camera has more definition.

Here you have one 7 tablets comparison inches where Nexus 7 and Acer Iconia Tab A110 sit so you can see it well in context.

By characteristics it must be the best competitor that Nexus 7 has found. If it reaches Europe for 230 euros It will be necessary to think it very well before launching into the Google tablet.
