A new and unexpected chapter opens for the update to Android Lollipop: not even ten days have passed since we told you that the Android 5.0.1 factory images and we are back to tell you that we also have those of Android 5.0.2, yes, at the moment only for the first generation Nexus 7.

As the nomenclature makes clear, Android 5.0.2 is, just like it was Android 5.0.1, a minor update, mainly dedicated to correct bugs and increase the stability of the system. It does not seem at first that it will leave any other type of news although, of course, if when you start to scrutinize you find new features, we will not stop informing you.
Regarding when it will arrive, as we anticipated, what we have available at the moment, are the factory images to download and install ourselves, although if you are not familiar with the process, as always, we advise you to wait for the update via OTA, which usually starts shortly after these are published and that you will probably receive in the next few days.
A more thorny question is which devices are going to receive it, because at the moment it is only available, as we said, for the first generation Nexus 7, which would be a curious choice on the part of Google in case it was intended for the entire range. Consequently, we cannot rule out for now that it is not an exclusive update due to a specific problem that has been found in this model.
Android 5.1 in February
The truth is that we were quite surprised to discover the existence of this Android 5.0.2, since we thought that the next update would already be Android 5.1. that, as we told you this week, is expected to reach end of February. Obviously, it can never be ruled out that Google have to keep releasing more of these small updates if the bug fixes don't work as they should. We will keep you informed if so.
