The shape Google Play Store gift cards are about to arrive in Spain definitely. They will fulfill the same function as iTunes for the iOS platform. With them we receive a promotional code that we can redeem for money to make our purchases in the Mountain View store in our country.
Until recently they were only for sale in the United States, although they made their way to countries such as France, Germany and the United Kingdom.
Xataka Android colleagues warn that codes can now be redeemed on the Spanish web. If we had a promotional card, we could load our account with money and then use it to purchase apps, music, books and movies. However, we will not be able to purchase any of the devices offered in the Play Store or their accessories.
We can do this from the web version, but not yet in the Android application. In the absence of saving that last step, it is clear that the arrival of these cards in Spanish stores and supermarkets is only a matter of time.
If it works the same as in the rest of the countries, we can purchase gift cards from 15 euros, 25 euros and 50 euros. When we exchange them in our account, we can accumulate up to a maximum of 2.000 euros and then make all those purchases. Another important limitation is that we will not be able to use a combined method of payment, that is, we will not be able to pay half of an application with the money exchanged and the other half with the credit card.
This solution will fall like May water on those users who continue to have reluctance to trust your bank details to a large company like Google, in addition to introducing them through an internet connection. Definitely, this method is much safer although it provides less comfort. Then, it gives the option of giving gifts, but we intuit that this will not be its main function.
