Lenovo has presented two new Android tablets with a different approach than what we usually find not only on this platform, but on all the others. The Lenovo Yoga Tablet 10 and Lenovo Yoga Tablet 8 se focus on giving a comfortable multimedia experience based on an ergonomic design, a really long autonomy and a good audio system. The best thing is that they have decided to set a lower price that makes them really competitive.
Design and versatility
These two models are identical in approach, except for a difference in size. One has a 10-inch screen and one has an 8-inch screen. For the rest, when we look at the Yoga Tablets, we see something different. Its thickness is not uniform. In the thinnest part of the tablet reaches just 3 mm, while at the other end we see a cylindrical mass that keeps many functions. The widest part of the screen is 8,1 mm for the 10-inch and 7,3 mm for the 8-inch.
That mass is a cylindrical battery that due to its large volume allows a autonomy of 18 hours. This represents a record in the market.
From that cylindrical mass comes a short flange that when collapsing we offers three different ways to use the tablet.
We can enjoy the mode Lectern, which keeps the tablet upright in landscape mode. Ideal for enjoying multimedia content such as movies.
Second, we have the mode Tilt, which we obtain by turning the tablet over and placing the support against the ground. This mode is perfect for handling the tablet on a table, allowing you to type more comfortably.
Finally, with the mode Hold o Book, that mass that makes up the battery gives us a more natural grip to hold the tablet with one hand in portrait mode.
The construction of both is solid and with good finishes but without adding too much load to the equipment. The 10-inch weighs 605 grams and the 8-inch 401 grams.
Technical Specifications
The endowment of the two models is medium high. Their screens have a resolution of 1280 x 800 in both cases with an IPS panel to enlarge the viewing angle.
Inside it has a chip MediaTek MT8125 with 7 GHz Cortex-A1,2 quad-core processor and PowerVR SGX 544 GPU. This chip is low comsumption and will contribute significantly to the autonomy of the team. We have on board 1 GB of RAM.
Your operating system will be 4.2.2 Android Jelly Bean but you will see a update to Android 4.4. KitKat by OTA sooner or later.
In terms of storage we will have two 16GB and 32GB options, both expandable Additional 64 GB per micro SD.
You have two cameras: a 1,6 MPX front and a 5 MPX rear.
Connectivity
The two tablets will have a version with connection by 3G mobile networks, with a slot for micro SIM, although at the moment we do not know its price and availability. Models with this type of connectivity will have a MediaTek MT8389 processor, a variant with a 3G module of the MT8125. We will also have Bluetooth 4.0.
A team for multimedia enjoyment
The design favors that we enjoy the Lenovo Yoga Tablet as multimedia centers and that is why the circle is closed with a special endowment. First of all, we have front speakers with Dolby Digital Plus technology that will give us a great sound quality.
We have an integrated microphone with noise cancellation, a feature that we will notice especially in video calls.
Accessories and productivity
If we wanted to increase productivity, Lenovo has specifically created a bluetooth keyboard that thanks to his magnetic closure it also acts as a protective cover for the screen. It will cost 99 euros.
Price and Availability
The price for Spain of these two models is as follows. The Yoga Tablet 8 will cost 229 euros and the Yoga Tablet 10 will cost 299 euros. They will be in stores before the end of November.
