If you used Here Maps by Nokia As an alternative to Apple Maps on your iPhone, you would notice that something was not working well lately. Well, the Finnish company has decided remove the application from the App Store and has blamed the latest changes in iOS 7 as stated by one of its representatives.
Users of Apple devices were shocked when their service was suddenly cut off after many months of use. Nokia launched Here Maps in 2012 just coinciding with the horror of experience provided by the Maps application that came pre-installed on the iPhone 5. The alternative then was very valid and since Google Maps was absent in an initial phase it seemed almost obligatory to have it.
As time has passed and both the native application and Google's have been improving, the competitiveness of Nokia's has dropped, but it had many users and some peculiarities such as offline maps.
The Indian Express newspaper has conducted an exclusive interview with a Nokia spokesperson. He blamed this decision on Apple and changes in iOS 7 that damaged the user experience.
IPhone users who want to continue using it will have to enter m.here.com from their browser, the mobile web version of the service where they can continue to obtain information on location, traffic, orientation, routes, etc ... All of this completely free of charge.
This representative has not given any clues as to whether the app will return to the App Store in the future.
Now, only Windows Phone and Nokia tablets are left to use Here Maps from a mobile device. This is a state of affairs that seems to have to change in the future, especially now that the Finns will only put their efforts into their web and information services, after the sale from its device division to Microsoft.
