A few years ago, indie games appeared in application catalogs as a complement to a movement led by young people from all over the world who tried to lead a somewhat more alternative lifestyle inspired by that of past decades. However, something that defines these users is their connection with consumer electronics, which results in the creation of a multitude of products aimed at them.
Among everything that we can find in tablets and smartphones that is inspired by these principles, we find works such as Yodel Climbers, about which we will tell you more below and that, like a multitude of titles in its category, aims to offer simple but effective entertainment, with large doses of humor that sometimes haunt the surreal and that, unlike others, does not make great boasting in terms of image or sound.
Argument
As we said before, the idea is very simple: We get into the shoes of two brothers dressed in the typical Tyrolean costume who are dedicated to climb mountains that can largely remind us of the Alps. Everything gets complicated when the only way to reach the peaks is through small jumps about platforms that will seem to have no end. However, this will not influence the mood of the protagonists, who will sing their regional songs as they go from peak to peak.
Similarities to other indie games
One of the most outstanding characteristics of the genre is the fact that, in most cases, we do not find environments with the latest image and sound effects and that the graphics are not very elaborate. This can be a claim if we add to it that another of the traits they share is the appearance of environments and screens in atmospheres colorful and nice. In the case of Yodel Climbers, this is completed with other features such as a carefree soundtrack, the possibility to choose between various characters and a very simple game mode based on pressing with a single finger on the obstacles to overcome.
Gratuitous?
This title does not have no cost initial. Released several months ago, the latest update fixed stability issues that were causing unexpected shutdowns. However, this has not helped it to achieve a significant number of downloads, since to date, it has remained around 50.000.
