Acer Iconia Tab 8, a new model with Full HD screen and Android 4.4 Kitkat

At the beginning of this month of May, Acer unveiled its new range of products. A consignment of laptops and "all-in-one" that were accompanied by two tablets: the Acer Iconia One 7 and Iconia Tab 7. Now, the Taiwanese company has announced a model that completes the catalog a little more, the Iconia Tab 8, which as you can deduce, has a screen of 8 inches with Full HD resolution, and comes with the same purpose as the previous ones, to offer affordable devices but with good specifications.

Acer continues to focus on tablets, as they have advertised a few times in recent months. With the renewed range of computers already presented, it is once again the turn of a mobile device. At the beginning of the month we met the Iconia One 7, a tablet with a processor Intel Atom Z360, 7-inch IPS screen with HD resolution, stereo speakers and Android 4.2 upgradeable to Kitkat for a price of 139 euros. As well as the Iconia Tab 7, another 7-inch tablet with two versions (one HD) with a Quad-Core processor and phone functionalities, that is, it incorporates 3G connectivity and the possibility of making calls from 149 euros. Both will begin to arrive in stores from June, that is, imminently.

Now, in the run-up to Computex 2014, the Asian company has announced a new model that continues along this same line, the Iconia Tab 8, vindicating its position to gain weight in the mobile device market. The new model, as it is deduced from its name, has a display of 8 inch IPS but this time, the resolution is Full HD (1.920 x 1.200 pixels) so we can think only with this data that it is the star terminal among the last presented.

The panel has a particular feature that reduces the gap between the LCD screen and the glass plate, thus reducing reflections. In its design highlights a metal plate located on the back and a special coating that will prevent fingerprints from being marked on the case. The thickness, of only 8,5 mm, is designed so that it can fit in one hand, and weighs 360 grams.

Inside the device we find a processor Intel Atom Bay Trail Z3745, with four cores supported by 2 gigabytes of RAM and 16/32 gigabytes, depending on the version chosen, with internal storage, expandable via microSD card. This time it will not have the phone functionalities, but it offers WiFi 802.11 a / b / g / n MIMO connection, Bluetooth 4.0, and a battery capable of holding a few 7 hours and a half. At the software level we find Android 4.4 Kitakat factory and Acer's own applications such as Acer Touch to activate it with one touch. It would arrive from mid-July, along with the HD version of the Iconia Tab 7 starting at a price from 199 euros.
