Acer prepares two 8-inch tablets with Intel Atom Bay Trail: one Android and the other Windows 8.1

Intel Atom Bay Trail

Acer recently announced at the Intel Developer Forum that it would soon bring an Android tablet that will use an Atom chip from the family. Bay Trail. This will surely be called Iconia A1 and it will be the second installment of that 7,9-inch model that we already saw at the beginning of the year. Now it seems that in this same size will release a model with the Windows operating system 8.1 of which we can already give you some information.

The model we are talking about was hunted on the German website PocketPC, we were told that they knew of the next launch of a model called Iconia W4-820. This team would also have a screen around 8 inches, specifically, 8,1 inches with a resolution of X. Inside it would carry the chip Intel Atom Z3760 quad-core, also of the Bay Trail family.

As storage it would take 32 GB. It would have WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity and an outlet micro HDMI, to export your content to larger screens. It would have two cameras, one front and one rear.

In terms of software, as an addition to your operating system Windows 8.1 would have Microsoft Office 2013 Home & Student. As already you we warn in due course, all the small format tablets that use the Redmond platform will bring the office automation package pre-installed and at no additional cost.

Acer Iconia W3 in hand

From the data provided it seems that we would be facing a vitaminized version of the first compact tablet in this OS, the Iconia W3 but with more power inside, since it had an Intel Atom Z2760 chip from the Clover Trail family. This model was not very well received, despite being the first in its category. The main criticisms came from its screen, which did not offer a quality view from its side angles.

We have no date for the arrival of these two devices, although Intel's idea was that devices with chips from the Bay Trail family would be in stores in the last quarter of 2013. Therefore, they are just around the corner.
