Since Installous disappeared, several have come out alternatives who intend to take their place and continue to allow iPad owners try apps for free without going through the App Store. Today we are going to talk about the two best positioned to collect the abandoned scepter: AppAdict and VShare. If we would like to emphasize that these are tools that allow us to test applications but that, if we like what we have tried, we should proceed to the payment in iTunes since we must reward the work of the developers. In both cases to make use of these two alternatives to Installous we need to have our device with jailbreak done and Cydia installed on our device.
App Addict
We are facing a kind of copy of the web version of the iTunes App Store. Before starting, you must have an iPad with iOS 5.0 or higher.
You must also have installed AppSync. For it:
- Add your repository to Cydia. You simply have to add one more source in Cydia with the Edit and Add button, you enter the URL http://www.appaddict.org/repo . Only a few packages will be downloaded.
- Go back to the Cydia menu we go to AppSync.
- Choose the package for your version of iOS, there are for 5.0+ or 6.0+.
- We select it and we give it to install.
- Then we give Subtract Springboard.
Once all the above is installed, we just have to go to the browser, enter the url http://www.appaddict.org/app/ and give it to install by sliding the button. The icon will appear the application icon.
Once everything is in order we can see in the application the list of Apps categories and, in the description of each one, there will be a tab that says Links. Click there and you will get different sources from which to download them. To do this, follow the instructions on each website but in all cases you will have to finally go to the Installer to proceed with the installation.

It is much simpler, perhaps the best option. Once installed, we can go to its categorized catalog of applications and install one of them directly. It has a search engine that allows us to more easily find the titles we are looking for. This one has a certain prediction and will suggest the names of the apps as we are writing them in the bar.
It has another really interesting resource which is the list of installed applications. In it, check if there is an update for the applications that we have installed and it allows us to install it directly. In turn we can decide to uninstall them. Again, hopefully it will be to later go buy it from the App Store in case you like it.
To install VShare you must have your iPad with Jailbreak and with Cydia, as we have already indicated. Once this is done:
- Go to Cydia and add a new Source, that is, a new repository.
- Press the Edit button, then Add and enter http://cydia.hackulo.us/
- Click OK to add the Hackulo repository.
Once here we have to install the AppSync 5.0+ package, in an identical operation to that of the other application. Once the computer restarts:
- Open Safari, go to this website: http://v.appvv.com/en/
- Hit install
- Follow the instructions
Once installed, you only have to look for the applications that you like the most in its catalog and you will also be able to use all the resources described above.
Before we go we want to make the warning about the limits of piracy again. This is a somewhat piratical tool that allows us to test applications without spending a penny, but we must understand that developers, especially independent ones, have to eat and invest a good amount of hours for us to enjoy later. It is a matter of individual conscience.
