Google works to make the Android M interface better than ever for tablets

Google presented last Thursday the new version of its operating system, Android M, and as expected, still giving something to talk about. During the conference held in San Francisco, those from Mountain View limited themselves to exposing the main novelties of this new iteration of their software, but there are many details (some important) that are being discovered as the hours go by. Some of them, aimed at Android M interface best suited to larger tablet screens.

Yesterday we already told you that Android M, although it had not been mentioned during the Google I / O conference, will have multi-window support. On tablets, this feature will allow dividing the screen into four sections that can be occupied by four applications, three (one of them occupying half and the other two would divide the rest of the space) or two on a split screen. This is best shown in the video that we leave you below made by Tim Schofield, where you will also see another of the news to which we referred.

It is effectively the split keyboard. A concept similar to that offered by iOS for iPad. The keyboard is not shown compactly on the screen but is divided into two parts that adhere to each of the sides, facilitating typing with the thumbs. It seems that this function is exclusive, at least to this day and many things can change until the final launch, for tablets, so the increasingly numerous phablets will not be able to take advantage of it.

Following in the same vein, trying to improve the Android experience on tablets, Google has made some changes to the drop-down notification menu. Now the menu may appear in three different positions (left, center and right) depending on where we touch when opening it. It will be deployed in the closest place to the area that we touch to deploy it although the first impressions of those who have tried it are not entirely good. As there is no visual indicator of where it will be displayed, we are in the position that it can be opened in an area that we did not expect, especially if we touch the center (we will never hit the center exactly). Even so, it is a good idea and Google will surely perfect it before releasing the final version of Android M.
