Apple buys a small company dedicated to indoor GPS. Future element for Maps?

Apple Maps navigation

Apple has bought a small business startups dedicated to Indoor GPS. Wi-Fi Slam is part of a california business group whose purpose is to develop tools that allow the orientation of users inside buildings such as museums, shopping centers, airports, etc ... All the specialized media are attributing this purchase to the possible help that the experience of this company could offer to improve Apple Maps in this particular aspect.

The Inquirer website contacted those in Cupertino to find out first-hand the company's opinion and a spokesperson informed them that they would not value the purchase, in the same way that they did not when there were other acquisitions of small companies in last.

Despite this silence, no one is aware that if there is somewhere where you can tickle those on the block, it is through the maps. Maps was one of the most notorious failures of the company in general terms and, specifically, for its mobile operating system iOS. The difference with other services like Google Maps and Nokia Maps. Things have improved since almost daily the horrible localization and presentation flaws that the app had in the media came out in the media, but even so there is still much to improve. The search for places is much more limited than that of the great service of the search engine company. Precisely the interior treatment has to be linked to a better location of places. In this company it was said that Foursquare could be helping Apple back in December.

Navigation inside buildings was a functionality that Google Maps put on the table and that, after doing a trial period in the United States, has made the leap to other countries, including find Spain.

In any case, if the company has just been bought, it is too early for the effect of this acquisition and probable collaboration to bear fruit.
