AppShopper returns to the App Store renewed

IPad apps

With all the ruckus around AppFree still in full swing, another of the applications that had to leave the store Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC),, AppShopper, returns renewed and adjusting its service to the terms and conditions that the block has. This application has developed a more social aspect, becoming a space for recommendations based on the tastes of our friends and other users.

When AppShopper left the App Store, the responsible developer assumed the "punishment" of Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), and it was proposed to redesign its application so that it would have a place in the apple store. A few months later, it comes back strong offering a somewhat different service; not based on the pure offer but prioritizing a more social component in the search for other applications. We fear, however, that in case of AppFree it's quite different and a similar renovation would mean losing those elements that made it such a business highly profitable.

What AppShopper has done is pretty straightforward actually. It is about having a recommendation system similar to that of Filmaffinity o Last.fm to the field of applications, so that users can find custom apps among their contacts or in popular lists and integrating, in turn, the opinion of important portals such as Touch arcade o 148apps. One can follow the accounts of these and other sites, or look for contacts also among the "friends" of Twitter.

AppShopper new interface

As in Amazon, we can make lists with our favorite applications and those that we want to have, and see how their price evolves, as well as use a search engine with certain filters to find an app dedicated to a specific aspect. The downside is that, at the moment, AppShopper is optimized only for iPhone, although the developers have promised that they will improve their service soon and we can see it optimized for the screen of the iPad.

Perhaps the approach of AppShopper not something so immediate like what it offered AppFree, but it is equally interesting when it comes to having a general knowledge of the offer of applications, as well as tools to find those services that adapt to our tastes and needs.

You can download the application from this link in iTunes.
