Eye Pause and Eye Scroll: Samsung's new eye detection technologies

Smart Stay

As evidenced by its multi-window system or, more in line with the technologies to which we refer here, its Smart Stay, although Samsung does not have its own operating system, it is clear that it does not care about software development at all and, from time to time, surprises us with some more than interesting innovations. Eye pause and Eye Scroll are his two new proposals for eye detection to improve our experience of using your mobile devices.

Among many other details, the Galaxy S III, incorporated a technology called Smart Stay Through which the front camera of the device captured the user's gaze and maintained the brightness of the screen even if it was not being touched to keep it active. Eye pause y Eye Scroll, the two new technologies of eye detection de Samsung for mobile devices, they seem to delve into this kind of control. Although we do not know exactly how they will work, the names are quite suggestive and it is to be expected that they will have the function of allowing us to move from top to bottom in a text, although in some media they speculate that it may even serve to move from left to right and switch between apps.

We do not know, however, when these technologies will be available on our smartphones or tablets, although it seems that they will probably be incorporated this year. They are expected to arrive in the Galaxy S IV or maybe a little later in the future Galaxy Note III. Be that as it may, it seems that we are getting closer to non-touch forms of control for our mobile devices, a topic widely discussed in the last CES de Las Vegas (in which, by the way, really accurate eye-sensing technologies of this type were seen). It seems, however, that even if this trend continues to consolidate, the transition will be quite slow and would inevitably go through a mixed phase where different forms of interaction with the teams would be combined.
