Galaxy A5 vs Galaxy S5: comparison

As we already told you yesterday, Samsung has already made its new range official A Galaxy, with a spectacular design in which its metal casing is the absolute protagonist. The desired metal casing, however, comes with a few Technical specifications inferior to those that we are used to in the flagship of the Koreans. Can the change be worth it? We show you a comparison of technical specifications between the Galaxy A5 and Galaxy S5 to help you decide.

Integrated

This is the point where the balance can tip the most in favor of the Galaxy A5, due, as we anticipated, to the attraction that aluminum casings suppose for many. However, although it is true that in the Galaxy S5 we find the usual polycarbonate housings of Samsung, the design of this one has some advantages that are worth not losing sight, such as the water resistance or fingerprint reader.

Dimensions

The difference in size between both devices (13,93x6,97 inch against 14,2x7,25 inch) is perhaps somewhat larger than you would expect if we take into account the difference in size between the screens (only 0.1 inches). The new Galaxy A5 it is also much finer (6,7 mm against 8,1 mm) and light (123 grams against 145 grams).

Screen

Although by size they are practically identical (5 inches against 5.1 inches), it does represent a significant sacrifice in terms of resolution (1920 x 1080 against 1280 x 720) and pixel density (PPI 294 x PPI 432) opt for the Galaxy A5. We will have to wait to see if, on the other hand, the Galaxy alpha you can take advantage of some of the improvements we have seen lately in the screens AMOLED de Samsung.

Performance

The difference in terms of performance should be very pronounced in favor of the Galaxy S5, which has a much more powerful processor (Snapdragon 410 a 1,2 GHz against Snapdragon 801 a 2,5 GHz), although with the same RAM memory (2 GB). The only advantage that can be given to Galaxy A5 in this section is that your processor has support for 64 bits, something that may be appreciated with the arrival of Android Lollipop 5.0.

Storage capacity

Although both give us the option of expanding the memory externally through a micro-SD card, the Galaxy S5 you still have the small advantage of being available with up to 32 GB of storage capacity, while the Galaxy A5 will have only 16 GB.

Cameras

In the camera section, the distribution of points may be imposed, depending on what use we give our smartphone more: the main camera of the Galaxy S5 is clearly superior13 MP against 16 MP), but the front of the Galaxy A5 is much more powerful (5 MP against 2 MP). The camera of the current flagship also gives us the option to capture videos with more definition (2160p against 1080p).

Battery

This is another point where the design of the Galaxy A5 an important fee can be charged and that is that it has a battery with a capacity much smaller than the Galaxy S5 (2300 mAh against 2800 mAh), although it must be recognized that both its screen and its processor are probably also less demanding in terms of consumption. We will have to wait for the independent autonomy analyzes to see how much real difference there is between the two.

Price

We are still awaiting confirmation of the official price of the Galaxy A5 but so far the leaks have placed it at a maximum of 500 euros, but in no case much below that figure. The Galaxy S5, for its part, can already be found in some distributors with prices below the $450.
