Galaxy A7 (2017) vs Galaxy J7 Prime: comparison

Samsung Galaxy A7 2017 Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime

We have already left you one comparative in which we measured the Technical specifications the new Galaxy A7 (2017) compared to last year's flagship, now that it can be found at significantly lower prices than when it was launched, to see if it might be worth the extra investment. Today, in a similar spirit, we are going to face it against the latest mid-range model that it presented to us. Samsung, Galaxy Prime J7, with which there will also be a certain price difference, to see to what extent you can compensate us or not pay it (the Galaxy J7 is much more popular, but it is true that the difference between one and the other is probably already too great). We leave the last word to you.

Integrated

One of the advantages of the "prime" version of the Galaxy J7 is that it already comes with a metal casing and a fingerprint reader, which were two of the most pronounced shortcomings of the standard model in this section. The new Galaxy A7However, it still has a point in its favor, which is water resistance. Aesthetically, on the other hand, the differences are quite small, unsurprisingly.

Dimensions

Regarding the dimensions, it is true that the Galaxy Prime J7 It is somewhat more compact, but it must be taken into account that it starts with an advantage because its screen is somewhat smaller (15,68x7,76 inch against 15,18x7,57 inch), although it can also boast of being finer (7,9 mm against 7,3 mm). We cannot say, however, which of the two is lighter, since Samsung has not yet revealed the weight of Galaxy A7.

Screen

The difference in size (5.7 inches against 5.5 inches) is probably the most important in the screen section, since in terms of resolution they are tied (1920 x 1080). The Full HD standard, however, leaves us with a lower pixel density, logically, on the larger screen (PPI 387 against PPI 401).

Performance

Although they both have the same RAM (3 GB), yes, the Galaxy A7 will also have an advantage in the performance section thanks to a higher level processor (Exynos 7880 eight-core and 1,9 GHz maximum frequency vs. Exynos 7780 eight-core and 1,6 GHz maximum frequency).

Storage capacity

Another of the sections in which the Galaxy Prime J7 significantly improves the standard model, putting itself on an equal footing with the new Galaxy A7 is the storage capacity, with 32 GB internal memory expandable externally in both cases.

Cameras

Another section where we find differences worth taking into account is that of cameras, where the advantage of the Galaxy A7 it is quite clear as far as the number of megapixels is concerned, and not only for the main camera (16 MP against 13 MP), but also and very especially for the front camera (16 MP against 8 MP).

Autonomy

We cannot say anything conclusively at the moment, but everything indicates that the new Galaxy A7 It could be done with another victory in the autonomy section, taking into account that its battery is of more capacity (3600 mAh against 3300 mAh). You have to be careful, however, because after all the difference is not too bulky and its screen is somewhat larger.

Price

The difference in price, logically, will be crucial when choosing between these two models, but unfortunately we cannot say anything concrete about it, since neither of them has been officially launched in our country (not even the Galaxy Prime J7, which saw the light some time ago, although at least we can tell you that in China it is sold so the change would be about 300 euros, but whether we buy it imported or if it is launched later in our country, presumably the figure will rise, getting closer to the 400 or 500 euros that is expected to cost the new Galaxy A7).
