Samsung has introduced a new tablet with phone capabilities that puts the really cool stuff in the small tablet repertoire. The device has an 8-inch screen and renews the Korean company's competition for the brand-new iPad mini and Google's 7-inch tablet. Today we are going to consider its ability against the toughest rival on the Android side. Here goes one comparison between Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 and Nexus 7.
Screen
In this aspect it is in the few that the tablet manufactured by Asus will come out ahead. By having a smaller size but identical resolution, you get a higher definition. In addition its panel IPS and its protection with the corning gorilla glass they go over the correct approach of the Korean.
Size and weight
The Korean model is slightly larger but actually thinner than Google's. We are talking about 2,5 mm but visually we will notice a certain difference. In terms of weight, they are two grams different, this is practically nothing.
Performance
The management and graphics capacity of the Nvidia Tegra 3 is superior to that of the Exynos 4412 chip. This has been demonstrated by the successive bechmarks when the SoCs were accompanied by 1 GB of RAM. But the thing is that in the Note 8.0 we see 2 GB of RAM. Clearly these will make a difference in terms of management ability. The Nexus 7 operating system is more advanced and that may help, but in principle we have a more capable machine on the Korean model.
Storage
They offer us the same storage options as standard. However, the decision not to enable an SD slot on the American device leaves you behind. Samsung's will be able to read cards up to an additional 64GB. It is true that cloud services are getting better and more reliable but advanced users will prefer to have these options beforehand.
Connectivity
In this there is little to discuss, on the one hand we have a phablet that in addition to being a phone gives us 3G connectivity. With the device made by Asus, calls will have to come from a VoIP service. The NFC seemed a differential element a few months ago, but neither the accessory manufacturers nor the banks with their payment systems are making enough gestures for us to use it.
Cameras and sound
The Korean model has two cameras in front of the only one of the search engine's company. As for sound, the device presented in Barcelona has not yet been tested.
Autonomy
There is not much difference in this section. The Note 8.0 has a bit more capacity, although it also has a less developed operating system and a software layer with the Premium Suite of very powerful and energy-demanding applications.
Prices and conclusions
The price of Samsung's new phablet has been revealed and confirms rumors that it would be priced very similar to the iPad mini. According to some leaks, the 16 GB model would be worth 380 euros with WiFi and 480 euros with WiFi + 3G. In both cases, far from the great price of the Google tablet. Obviously with Galaxy Note 8.0 we are facing a model with better features and with greater versatility than almost all tablets of that size, but this does not mean that its value for money is superior.
Also in terms of operating system, Nexus 7 has the upper hand since it will always be one of the first tablets to receive Android updates. We do not know how long you will enjoy this status privileged but, at least, until the new tablets of the American company manufactured by Motorola come out.
Who is looking for a device to work and do not worry so much about the price, he will have a faithful ally in the Asian machine.

I love the Samsung tablet but with the NEXUS 7 I have more than enough so I am not going to overpay.
