Samsung and LG They are two companies with many points in common, conditioned perhaps by the shared origin of both. However, while LG has made South Korea its fiefdom and the foreign market a secondary objective (you only have to see the accreditations of the last MWC), Samsung sets itself much more ambitious objectives. Today we compare its star terminals, the LG G2 and the recent Galaxy S5.
For a viewer not used to smartphones, many of their terminals could even get confused. There is no doubt that Samsung is an extremely successful firm and that LG has not adopted its lines in certain models, although sometimes the inspiration has gone precisely in the opposite direction. Either way, they are two brands recognized for their role. innovative, facet in which, by the way, last year Samsung was awarded and this one to LG during the MWC.
Integrated
Despite maintaining a very classic design, both the LG G2 and the Galaxy S5 present details of the highest level. The first thing we must say is that both they use plastic in its manufacture, an aspect that generates some disappointment in some consumers, but that has been giving good results for several years.
The buttons on the back of the G2 may be its most distinctive feature, however, the most meritorious, in our opinion, is having put a screen so big in a near standard housing. The measurements of the LG device are 13,8 cm x 7 cm x 8,9 mm, while those of the Galaxy S5 are 14,2 cm x 7,2 cm x 8,1 cm and even so the display of the former is a little older.
Samsung has bet this year by incorporating novel sensors in its star line. During the presentation of the terminal they look quite good and offer an image of powerful innovation, but we will have to see how practical they are in the day to day.
Screen
The G2 is a IPS 5,2-inch conventional, while the S5 is a AMOLED 5,1 inch. Both have the same resolution, 1920 × 1080, but their slightly different sizes mean that the first has a density of 424 dpi and the second 432 dpi, something impossible to perceive with the naked eye.
As we say, the LG model make better use of space on the front, and dispenses with physical buttons, while part of the Samsung surface is dedicated to housing the new sensors of the terminal.
Performance
The performance of the Galaxy S5 should be somewhat higher than that of the LG G2, since the Snapdragon 801 (the chip you assemble first) is a Snapdragon 800 (the chip that mounts the second) vitaminized and high in laps. Otherwise, the two have the same RAM, 2GB.
Despite the fact that both teams have a heavy layer of customization, the controls offered by the LG terminal were smoother than those of the S4, which suffers from some lag. However, everything indicates that the world's leading mobile manufacturer has released ballast, managing to make the Galaxy S5 a tremendously responsive smartphone.
Autonomy
It is a section in which LG has worked really hard and the owners of the G2 can attest: its autonomy is simply brutal. The capacity of the piece is already large, 3.000 mAh, but its tiered structure and the introduction of a development called GRAM (or graphics RAM) make their life extremely long.
The Galaxy S5 does not have such a large piece, 2.800 mAhHowever, it is removable and replaceable. In addition, this new equipment has an extreme "energy saving" mode. We will have to wait, however, for more concrete tests to arrive to see how it behaves.
Camera
Here we can resolve with a technical draw. The G2 it was, probably thanks to its optical stabilization system, one of the terminals that gave the best results when taking pictures.
El Galaxy S5 in return it offers more resolution (16 Mpx by 13 Mpx of its rival) and a autofocus very fast, 0,3 seconds.
Conclusions
We are facing two devices with very even benefits. The good thing about the G2 is that its price is already around $430, while the Galaxy S5 will be much more expensive at the beginning. We calculate about 700 or $650.
