Galaxy Tab A 8.0 vs Honor T1: comparison

We recently presented a selection with some good options for those of you who are looking for tablets with good finishes, since there are more and more alternatives to iPad de Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), and now we want to concentrate on comparing in more detail two of those that could be more interesting for those who want a device with a premium, but who also do not want or can make too large an investment: the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 de Samsung and Honor T1 de Huawei. Considering that there is quite a significant price difference between the two, is it worth paying a little more for the Korean tablet or not? We show you a comparative with the Technical specifications of the two so that you can decide for yourself.

Integrated

As we said, this is an aspect in which these two tablets stand out a lot compared to others within their price range, not because neither of them has a particularly original design, but because it is rare to find tablets with a finish. metallic, and much more when we talk about entry-level and mid-range tablets. The two also have smooth lines and rounded corners, although there are some details that distinguish them, mainly on the front: the tablet from Samsung It has much smaller side frames and also a physical home button.

Dimensions

There are no important differences in size between these two tablets (the screen of both is identical), so what we appreciate above all are different proportions, since the A Galaxy Tab is more square, in the style of the iPad, and the Honor T1 more elongated20,83 x 13,79 cm in front of 21,06x12,77 inch). They are also quite similar in thickness, although the tablet of Samsung It is somewhat thinner (7,4 mm versus 7,9 mm), but there is a clear advantage in the weight section (313 grams against 360 grams).

A Galaxy Tab

Screen

As we anticipated, the screen of both tablets is the same size (8 inches) but, surprisingly, the tablet of Huawei has a higher resolution (768 x 1024 against 800 x 1280) and therefore a higher pixel density (PPI 160 against PPI 188). The aforementioned difference in format must also be taken into account, since the A Galaxy Tab use the 4:3, more appropriate for reading, and Honor T1 the classic 16:9, optimized for video playback.

Performance

The two tablets are more evenly matched, however, in the performance section, in both cases with a quad-core processor at 1,2 GHz and with 1 GB of RAM memory (unless we opt for the model of 32 GB for the A Galaxy Tab, with 2 GB), although in the case of Huawei we know that the chip is a Snapdragon 200 and in that of the Samsung the manufacturer has not yet been specified.

Storage capacity

Here the balance tips to the side of the A Galaxy Tab since, as we mentioned in the previous section, it is expected that a model will be launched that will have 32 GB of storage capacity (plus more RAM), while the Honor T1, at least for the moment, it is only sold with 16 GB. In both cases, yes, we have the option of expanding the memory externally through card micro-SD.

Honor T1

Cameras

Neither of the two tablets stands out too much in the cameras section, although it is not usual in these price ranges to find too bright technical specifications: both have a main camera of 5 MP, although the tablet of Samsung has some head start when it comes to the main camera, with 2 MP, while that of the Huawei it is only 0,3 MP.

Autonomy

This difference in thickness and weight that we found when comparing the dimensions of these two tablets, can be explained, at least in part, by the greater capacity of the battery of the Honor T1, that is of 4800 mAh, in front of 4200 mAh of the of the A Galaxy Tab. The interesting thing, in any case, is the autonomy data, as we always remember, that we will give you as soon as they are available.

Price

As you can see, the two tablets have remained very close in terms of technical specifications, which gives special value to the difference in price that we hope to find between the two: although the price of the A Galaxy Tab in our country, we hope that it will be put on sale for $230While Honor T1 can be bought now for something more than $130, something that, in reality, does not surprise us too much since the quality / price ratio is the strong point of Huawei's Honor range.
