Does Google Now use a lot of battery on your iPad? We show you how to fix it

Google NowiOS

Google Now recently came to iOS thanks to the updated Mountain View search application. This resource was really expected among iDevices users since it offers really useful and specific information to each user. Android has been available for a few months and the appreciation of users is more than positive. However, on its rival platform it is generating problems: drains the battery of the iPad and iPhone by the constant use of localization.

The service needs to check your location from time to time to be able to offer you information on cards depending on your personal settings, emails or interests. Above all, it is essential for tracing routes to key places such as your home or work. In Android the geolocation service for a few seconds and it turns off, without involving a great drain on the battery, but in iOS it connects more than necessary and stays connected constantly.

By having the GPS running continuously the battery flies. Some users report that in 3 hours they lose 50% of the battery.

How do we fix it?

In order to continue using the service but not be left with the dead device, we have to tweak the application settings.

We can go to Privacy menu within the application and disable location reporting, this in turn will eliminate all the information linked to geographical position that until now we enjoyed: the route back home or work or the reminder of that great restaurant that we looked for a few weeks ago.

Another more drastic option is to manually deactivate the GPS on the entire device and activate it when we go a little before when we go to make inquiries, but the Notifier component of Now will be disarmed.

The best thing would be for Google to put the batteries and update the application bringing better GPS management. In Android it does not use so much battery, that is, there is a way to do it.

No, the problem is with Google, but all the App that use the GPS would have the same problem, such as Siri or DondeEstaMiIPhone

If the operation is the same in Android as in IOS, being continuously connected but in IOS for whatever reason you need to consult the location more frequently, the problem is not from Google. And I show you it easily since I use Surface Pro with Bluestack and Google now and the battery lasts more or less the same, the increase in expense is because I have to use an external GPS antenna.
