As it is still logical, Microsoft is raising with Windows 10 a global strategy based on its own ecosystem to, from the PC, conquer ground in tablets and mobiles. The bet is certainly smart and we believe that the Redmond may be taking advantage in a way that Google and Apple they will have to travel at some point. However, the services of the company led by Nadella are not the most efficient in any case.
Windows 10 has to be a good operating systemIf we look at the historical trajectory of Microsoft. Vista was clearly an unfinished Windows 7; and the latest version, according to many (among which we include ourselves), has succeeded in doing what 8 and 8.1 had failed to do: designing an environment for touch devices and PCs really integrated. It is clear that it is a process and that there is still much to do, however, the concept begins to show powerful overtones of functionality.
A demanding user, however, always seeks to get the most out of his equipment and for this it is necessary to provide himself with the best tools, regardless of whether they are supplied by one company or another. In this sense, as a seeker, Google is a few steps ahead of Bing. Today we show you how to set the search engine devised by Page and Brin by default on your Windows 10 device.
How to give Chrome the limelight first
First of all we must configure chrome as default browser, if you haven't already. It is something very simple, and as we go through the screen, we can take the opportunity to leave another series of questions to our liking. For example, put VLC as a player or any program that we are used to.
We simply have to click on the button Home > Configuration > System > Default applications. We look for the web browser section and select Chrome. From this moment on, every time the system needs to launch a website, it will be the Google browser that will take us to the desired address.
Installing the Bing2Google extension
The next thing is to open Chrome and in its application store we install the extension bing2google. This tool will make the Mountain View search engine work by default on Windows 10.
You can access the extension directly by clicking the link above.
Check that everything works correctly
Now the search box that appears at the bottom of the toolbar should return, when we enter any term, the Google relevance ranking instead of Bing, and it will do so through Chrome and not Edge or Internet Explorer.
You can do the test. Enter whatever you want to search for, for example, «Britney Spears»Or«Philosophical Logical Treatise»And… voilà!
Google is no better than Bing, just different. Try searching for videos with Bing 😉
