Google Translate for Android now works without an internet connection

Google translate offline

The application of Google Translate for Android It has been updated bringing a very interesting advantage to its users. Now we can translate offline. The point is that now the software will take the references of the language packages of the device itself, therefore, it will not have to go to the database on the internet and it will not require a connection. Above all, it is great news for tablet users, since it is more common not to have a data rate and, consequently, the limitation to WiFi networks is noticeable.

To configure this option you just have to go to the button App settings, give to Offline languages and select the ones you want. Obviously, to do this, you do need a connection, but if you don't have one, you can tell it to do so when you have access to a WiFi network. We recommend this action since they have an important weight. Look at the list of previously installed ones, possibly only English. But don't forget download the spanish one, since you need a source one.

Obviously the main advantage is not depending on Internet connectivity to be able to translate words when we need it, but there is another derived advantage. If we have a data plan for our mobile or tablet, now when we do a search in a previously downloaded language we will not spend data. Also if we have a powerful team and a bad connection (who does not have this in Spain) we will see that it is much faster.

In short, this tool, beyond its precision for complex phrases or thoughts, is becoming more and more powerful. It is essential in travel if we do not know the language of the destination. The camera's functionality makes it ideal for posters or restaurant signs or menus. Of course, this function does require a connection to recognize the text.

If you have Google Translate, you can download it for free at Play Store.
