From iOS 4.0, one of the most interesting functions that was added to the iPad was AirPrint, that is, the function to be able to use any compatible printer with this type of technology from the tablet itself to print wirelessly.
While some models of WiFi printers are already quite affordable, such as the HP Deskjet 3054A (seen for around € 59 for a large area), you may be reluctant to get rid of that one that has been with you for a long time. Well, it is possible to make AirPrint compatible with any USB printer connected and shared from a computer that is connected to the same WiFi network as the iPad and no, the jailbreak is not necessary this time.
For this we need a small software called AirPrint Activator that can be downloaded for free, both the version for Windows and for Mac, from your official website.
Once AirPrint Activator has been downloaded and correspondingly unzipped and installed on the computer, whatever its OS, the process is as simple as:
Open the "Sharing" panel in the OS X System Preferences, or the corresponding one in the Control Panel in Windows to share the desired printer on the local network.
- Launch the Air Print Activator application.
- Flip the switch to turn on the function.
- Enter the administrator password.
- Follow the instructions in the pop-up window, indicating which of the printers that are shared in the system will be the one that will be used with AirPrint. At this point you can close the AirPrint window.
- Connect the iPad to the same WiFi network as the computer.
- We open on the iPad what we want to print (web page, pdf, email, etc.) and go to the upper options button. In it we will see the option "Print" and by pressing it we can choose the printer that is shared on the WiFi network as if it were compatible with AirPrint.
In case this tutorial is not yet clear to you, here is a video that explains, although in English, the process to activate a printer with AirPrint Activator, both in Mac OS X and in Windows
MAC:
Windows 7:
You say that the Airprint Activator exists in Windows version, but on the page, of which you put the link, you can only download versions for Mac.
It is true to damn such a thing I am very interested to see if anyone knows about Windows.
Search "Windows AirPrint Installer iOS 5 for x86 x64" in google.
The almond trick is luxurious, I did not know that this existed, I looked for it and in 0, working on iPad 3 and iPhone 4s both with the latest version and without jaibreak.
