HP announces first tablet with keyboard and Chrome OS

This morning we were talking about tablets with keyboard and Chrome OS that were to come, highlighting the news that pointed to one with 4K resolution, and it turns out that just a few hours later we can announce that the first of them has just become official: this is the Chromebook x2 de HP that comes to compete with the iPad Pro and Windows tablets.

This is the Chromebook x2

Starting with the design, it must be said that we are really closer to a laptop here than usual in the Windows tablets, betting on a formula similar to that found in tablets like the Miix 320, which is something relatively rare now, with many more manufacturers following the format of the Surface. In any case, the keyboard remains detachable, which will give us the freedom of movement that we normally expect from a tablet.

Although this decision may suggest that HP You are not thinking of this device to be used mainly as a tablet (and it probably is), it must be said that it will still be quite comfortable to be used without a keyboard and otherwise it is quite similar to the high-end Windows tablets of the moment , with a weight very similar to that of the Surface Pro (less than 800 grams) and with two USB Type-C ports (like the Galaxy Book 12).

Intel processor and 2K display

It is not the only thing that is Chromebook x2 It reminds us of high-end Windows tablets, since it also comes with a screen of 12.3 inches (like the Surface Pro) and with 2K resolution of X (lower than Surface Pro but higher than Galaxy Book 12 or Huawei Matebook E). And in another demonstration that it does try to compete with them, we also have quite powerful cameras, including a rear of 13 MP.

Where they have lagged a bit behind the usual right now in high-end Windows tablets is in the processor, betting on a Intel Core m3, although it is true that to work with Chrome OS it is probably enough to give us a good performance. It also comes with less internal memory than usual, for the same reason (32 GB). Where it does comply without problems is in RAM, with 8 GB.

Will it arrive in Spain?

What we are not so clear about right now is whether and when it will arrive in Spain. At the moment it has been announced for the United States, where we already know that it will go on sale in June, but we have no news of the plans for the rest of the world and it is true that Chromebooks have been limited on many occasions to the US market.

We hope you will, in any case, and if you do it without the price going up too much when converted to euros, it will be a very interesting option for many, since it will be launched for U.S. dollar 600, a price for which it is difficult to find Windows tablets of a certain level (even with Intel Core m3 processors) if not by importing.
