The strange new tablet from HTC

Some photos leaked through Twitter seem to show that HTC has ventured back into the tablet territory and, from what the images show, the bet of the Taiwanese company is certainly risky. There are some doubts about the authenticity of the photographs, but they are worth seeing.

HTC, of course, is not one of the leading brands in the world of tablets, and its previous devices (Flyer y Jetstream) were moderately successful, to put it mildly. However, judging by the pictures which they have leaked from Twitter, the Taiwanese company would have tried again. Nothing is known about the technical characteristics or even what would be the operating system with which they would work, although from the previous statements made from Microsoft, it does not seem likely that it will carry Windows RT, which leaves us with the assumption that it will be a new tablet Android.

The images have aroused considerable mistrust, because it is evident that they have been treated with photoshop, although experts say that it seems that all the manipulation is limited to the addition of images to the screen, and that perhaps it is a prototype which is not yet operational. However, the source of the leak, evleaks, renowned for the accuracy of similar leaks in the past, seems to give it some credibility.

The highlight of the new device, in any case, is its strange appearance. HTC seems to have opted for a very unusual format in tablet design, with a very thin frame on 3 of its sides and a wide stripe at the bottom. This may be comfortable to hold in a landscape position, but it obviously raises limitations of use to handle it in other positions. Stranger still is that, according to the photographs, the camera would be located in the center of this lower edge, which seems clearly very impractical.

Will HTC surprise us by introducing this strange tablet at the IFA from Berlin? We will know soon.
