Huawei MediaPad M5: first performance and battery tests

Although on the day of its presentation the MediaPad M5 10 He already left us a great impression just by taking a look at his technical specification sheet, it is always interesting to have the opportunity to see how much he can give of himself in independent tests and we already have the results of the first ones performance and battery tests to measure your potential vs. iPad Pro 10.5 and Galaxy Tab S3.

The performance of the MediaPad M5 put to the test

We start with the performance tests, which leaves us one of the first reviews of the MediaPad M5 10 Pro. It must be remembered that what really differentiates this version from the standard is the storage capacity and the inclusion of the M Pen, so that its results are perfectly extrapolated to the other versions.

As the processor we have in the MediaPad M5 is an old acquaintance, the Kirin 960, we had a pretty good idea here of what to expect, but it doesn't hurt to be able to check it and see if the optimization work you have been able to do Huawei with him now they make or not a difference. What is expected is that it was at the height (more or less) of the Galaxy Tab S3, but still behind in gross power of the iPad Pro 10.5.

Indeed, that is what we find: as you can see, with regard to the performance of the CPU the MediaPad M5 would get past (quite clearly in multicore tests) the Galaxy Tab S3, but it is still a long way from the iPad Pro 10.5; the results are worse when it comes to graphics processing, where it also lags behind the tablet of Samsung.

What autonomy can we expect from the MediaPad M5?

We also expected great things from the MediaPad M5 in the autonomy section, in view of the fact that it arrives with a battery of 7500 mAh, which is quite a respectable figure, quite a bit higher than what is usual for 10-inch tablets. It is also true, on the other hand, that its screen is also true and that we are here before a Quad HD tablet (by the way, these results cannot be extended to the 8-inch model).

It seems, however, that there is no reason to distrust what the MediaPad M5, which has once again succeeded in these first tests, with 12 hours autonomy in a test of video playback, a result similar to that obtained in the same test by the Galaxy Tab S3, although still behind the iPad Pro 10.5 again, he is the current champion in this field as well.

We would like to see the new tablet of Huawei by other tests and see if everything we have seen for the moment is confirmed and how it behaves even in other areas (sound tests, for example), but for now it is undoubted that the sensations that it is leaving are really good and If you are thinking of getting it, we already warn you that you do not have to wait any longer, because now you can buy the MediaPad M5 in Spain.
