Huawei presents the MateBook: all the information

At the same time that LG unveils its new LG G5, Huawei He has taken the stage to present his own novelties. There was not much information about what the Asian company had prepared for this day, although everyone was betting on the Huawei P9 and the company had released teasers of a new hybrid tablet with which it could enter to compete in the increasingly crowded field of professional tablets. Of course, what is most striking is the fact that Huawei at the end we have presented a tablet that incorporates a keyboard, something that until now we had not seen, although, as promised by the teasers, there will also be a stylus, what will be called MatePen. Of the keyboard, what has been wanted to highlight is above all the curvature that has been given to the keys to improve their ergonomics and the fact that it is resistant to splashes. Of the MatePenFor its part, it has 2048 pressure points, although it cannot be omitted to mention that it also works as a laser projector, something useful for presentations. Other accessories will be the usual dock station and noise-canceling headphones.

From what we can see of the tablet itself, however, the effort made to achieve a device that is not only practical, but also elegant and with premium finishes, of course, thanks to its metal casing. It will be available in two colors: a combination with front black and back cover metallized, and another with frontal white and back cover in color golden. The keyboard, however, we can get it in a wider variety of tones: in addition to white, we will also have it in yellow, red and blue.

Huawei has also made an effort to achieve a good optimization of the screen / size ratio, something that is always appreciated in devices of this size, better than most of its alternatives. Its thickness is equally spectacular (6,9 mm), although without any doubt what is most striking is its weight, really low if we compare it with its main rivals, with only 640 grams. Finally, confirm that you have a fingerprint reader, which after launch will be given multi-user support (each finger will unlock an account).

Technical Specifications

The technical specifications, as can be expected of a tablet that aims to replace a laptop, are at the highest level, starting with the screen, which will be 12 inches and will have a resolution above the Full HD standard, with X. Huawei has not wanted to boast only of resolution, in any case, but has also wanted to emphasize other aspects such as colors and brightness (400 nits). The audiovisual experience is completed by Dolby stereo speakers.

Taking into account that one of the advantages of tablets compared to laptops is precisely in their greater autonomy, it is not surprising that Huawei has also wanted to boast of its achievements in this section, with a special role for its high-density lithium battery, which will undoubtedly have had a lot to do with how light and thin the tablet is. Its capacity results from unusually low primers for a tablet of its size, with 4430 mAh, but they promise us that thanks to various innovations aimed at reducing consumption, we can count on 10 hours of uninterrupted use without the need to recharge.

Entering the performance section, another point that can never be overlooked in a tablet like this, Huawei has put a lot of emphasis on the fact that they have managed to reduce the temperature by almost 3 degrees thanks to an 8-layer heat conduction structure , something that, incidentally, also helps to have a better autonomy. With regard to the processor, within the usual, it seems that we can choose between several configurations, with the Intel Core m3 for the most basic models and reaching the Intel Core m7 for the superior. RAM will oscillate between 4 and 8 GB .
