The Snapdragon 810 of the Xiaomi Mi Note Pro has performance and temperature improvements

This morning we told you that Xiaomi Mi Note Pro, high-end phablet presented together with the Mi Note at the beginning of this year 2015, has finally been put on sale in China. What we did not expect, is that the device, which was announced with the processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 when everyone was talking about the problems this chip was having, it would come with surprise. And it is that the Asian company has collaborated with the Americans to develop a second version of the processor that premieres the Mi Note Pro and that improves crucial aspects such as performance and thermal management.

One of the main doubts left by the spectacular Xiaomi Mi Note Pro after its presentation was the processor, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810, which although it seemed the one chosen to dominate the high-end in 2015, was having more problems than expected, which led, for example, Samsung to break ties with the manufacturer and bet on an Exynos for its flagship, the Galaxy S6. But today, the day of its launch, we have learned that a revision of the chip has significantly improved its performance.

This review has focused primarily on two points, performance and thermal management. From Xiaomi they have referred to the processor of the Mi Note Pro as Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 v2.1, which makes it clear that there has been an outstanding evolution. So much so that its score in AnTuTu, the benchmark for measuring the power of the terminals, has skyrocketed to 63.424 points, well above the figures reached by the HTC One M9 and the LG G Flex 2 that mount the original Snapdragon 810.

To assess this excellent result, we must bear in mind that the Exynos 7420 of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge stays around 60.000 points. And not least, that the Xiaomi Mi Note Pro has the factor against the screen, since yours has QHD resolution while both the HTC One M9 and the LG G Flex 2 stay in Full HD. One of the keys to this performance jump is the improvement in thermal management, which prevented it from developing its full potential as we saw a few days ago in the comparison with the Snapdragon 808 of the LG G4.

As they have shown, the Xiaomi Mi Note Pro remains at about 36,3 degrees Celsius after 20 minutes of play, a fairly acceptable data. Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi, explained that the improvements of the Snapdragon 810 v2.1 have been achieved thanks to the collaboration of 20 of its engineers with those of Qualcomm, something similar to what LG has done with the Snapdragon 808 that mounts the G4. Good move by the Chinese firm that wants to break the phablet market with this device.
