Intel presents its two educational tablets. We review similar models in the industry

Intel Education Tablet 7

Technology companies know to a greater extent than public institutions that the future of education lies in introduce personal computers into the classroom. Tablets are one of the most suitable formats due to their touch control, suitable for pre-literacy phases. Intel, the great chip designer company, has unveiled two tablet models specially designed for education and that they use the Android platform as a base on which to support their own pedagogical software. These are the Intel Education Tablets.

In reality, it is not the first effort in this direction that the American company has made. In 2012 they launched a team called StudyBook for the same purposes.

Intel Education Tablets choose not to use a trademark or catchy name and attempt to offer a balance between portability, functionality and good price.

We have a first model with a 7 inch with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. It has a 2420 GHz Atom Z1,2 chip, accompanied by 1 GB of RAM, which starts Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. It has a storage of 8 GB, two low resolution cameras and a battery that gives it an autonomy of 8 hours. Have a stylus included as an accessory.

Model 10 inch It has a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. It has a 2460 GHz Atom Z1,6 chip with 1 GB of RAM and curiously uses the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. It has a storage of 16 GB. The rest of the specifications coincide with those of the smallest model, except for offering only 6,5 hours of autonomy.

They both carry a stylus and incorporate the Intel educational software or with a McAffee antivirus to protect student data.

Now the American giant is looking for alliances with public administrations and private educational institutions to market these products.

The price per unit has not been specified as it depends largely on these negotiations.

AmplifyTablet

In short, educational tablets are increasingly proliferating. For a long time we can see the already normal presence of iPad in the classrooms at different levels of studies, with hundreds of applications for this work. We have also witnessed the Microsoft efforts for having an advantage in this sector and market.

On the Android side we have seen models specially designed for this work thanks to its malleability. We already talked about the Tablet Amplify based on the ASUS MeMO Pad Smart 10. For all this, we are not surprised to see similar movements by a company as large as Intel using the Google platform.
