Jelly Bean and ICS finally bring together more users than Gingerbread

Android versions

At last it happens. The sum of the two versions Android 4 (Ice Cream Sandwich y Jelly Bean), already really advanced systems, have managed to overtake Gingerbread, which accounts for the huge sales of next-generation devices that are taking place at the moment. Despite the data, version 2.3 continues to add more than 44% of users and fragmentation continues to be the dominant note.

During the past month of February there was a milestone within the system Android and it is that the latest versions (where powerful code details are already seen and the software begins to offer very advanced features) have managed to surpass Gingerbread, delivery that was able to maintain the domain for a long time thanks to its presence on many of the phones that operators usually give away to their customers. In fact, it is possible that a plummet will not occur and, although it continues to lose share, it can still battle it out since there are quite a few teams that have it pre-installed and that have not yet come out of their boxes.

Still, and as always, we must point out that the fact that there are many devices with previous versions of Android It is not a bad thing in itself either, since it accounts for the fragmentation of the system, true, but also for the diversity of users it brings together. Many of them will have everything they expect from a mobile phone on their computer with Gingerbread. Furthermore, we must repeat that manufacturers are responsible whether a phone or tablet is updated (or not) and it is these who must be squeezed. The logical thing is that users end up opting for the companies that present better rhythms when updating to new versions.

Android distribution

Today, the sum of Jelly Bean y Ice Cream Sandwich brings together 45% of the users of Android. However, the first one goes up a lot, from 13,6% up to 16,7%, already the only version showing growth, while ICS it yields another 1% compared to the previous month. There is still a good consignment of devices with Android 4.1 and 4.2 to arrive before the appearance of Key Lime Pie scheduled for May. It remains to be seen whether in these two or three months Jelly Bean manages to become the second force, something very possible if the current trend continues.
