LG G Pad II 10.1 vs Galaxy Tab 4 10.1: comparison

LG G Pad II 10.1 Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1

Yesterday we brought you a comparative in which we faced the last two mid-range tablets of LG y Samsung, but the truth is that despite the arrival of the Galaxy Tab A, the Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 last year it is still a very interesting tablet and does not completely overlap with the other, since they have quite different characteristics. It also has the advantage that having been in stores for a while makes it quite easy to get it cheaper. Can it be, therefore, a good alternative to the new LG GPad II 10.1? Let's review the Technical specifications of both to verify it.

Integrated

Contrary to what happened when facing the LG GPad II to A Galaxy Tab, With the Galaxy Tab 4lThe similarities are much more marked and only the somewhat smaller frames of the LG and the characteristic physical home button of the devices of Samsung mark notable differences in their aesthetics, although it must also be borne in mind that it seems that the former is going to be distributed, at least initially, in somewhat peculiar shades (violet and gold).

Dimensions

What is striking when comparing the dimensions of these two tablets is not so much the difference in size as the difference in proportions (25,43x16,11 inch against 24,34x17,64 inch), something curious if we think that they do not use different formats in this case. They are very close, however, both in terms of thickness ( 7,8 mm against 8 mm) and weight (489 grams against 487 grams).

Screen

As we have just mentioned, the format of both screens is the same (16:9, optimized for video playback) and so is its size (10.1 inches). There is, however, a difference in the resolution (1920 x 1200 against 1280 x 800) and therefore in pixel density (PPI 224 against PPI 149), as well as the type of panel used (LCD against TFT).

Performance

Here again the advantage is clear for the tablet LG since neither of the two has a state-of-the-art processor, but this one is much more powerful than that of the Samsung (Snapdragon 800 quad core to 2,3 GHz against Snapdragon 400 quad core to 1,2 GHz). The LG GPad II It also has more RAM memory (2 GB against 1,5 GB) and arrives with Android Lollipop pre-installed.

Storage capacity

The tie at this point is absolute, since both are sold with the same amount of internal memory (16 GB) but with the possibility of extending it externally via card micro-SD, something that is appreciated considering that it seems that there will be no options with more storage capacity. Nothing to tip the balance one way or the other here.

Cameras

The cameras section is another in which the tablet of LG has an advantage over that of Samsung (5 MP against 3,15 MP for the rear camera and 2 MP against 1,3 MP for the front camera), although it is probably not the most important for most users, due to the little use we normally make of the camera on a tablet.

Autonomy

Waiting for what the independent tests tell us about the autonomy of the LG GPad II and looking for the moment only in the capacity of the battery, the victory would be for her, although the distance is not too great (7400 mAh against 6800 mAh). It must also be borne in mind that by processor and screen, it would be normal for the tablet to LG also consume more than Samsung, although, as we said, we will have to wait to see if it is or not.

Price

And we come to the key question that, unfortunately, we are going to have to leave unresolved for the moment, because although it is logical that the newest tablet is the one with the best technical specifications, as we have seen, the interesting thing would be to see if the difference in price may or may not favor the tablet Samsung. At the moment, all we can do is point out that the first generation of the LG G Pad was launched by $250 (We do not know if the improvements that the new one has incorporated will make it more expensive or not compared to its predecessor) and that the Galaxy Tab 4 It is already for prices that are around 220-230 euros at some dealers.
