LG G Pad II 10.1 vs Iconia Tab 10: comparison

LG G Pad II Acer Iconia Tab

While we continue to wait for the opportunity to see it live (which we hope will happen already this week at the IFA in Berlin), we continue to measure the Technical specifications of the new mid-range tablet from LG, LG GPad II 10.1, which it presented last week, to its main competitors, among which without any doubt is the new models of its popular Iconia Tab 10 (It has seen quite a few versions of it in recent times, so to avoid any possible confusion, answer the full name of Iconia Tab 10 A3-A20 FHD) and that it has a really competitive price in its favor. We hope this comparative help you decide which of the two best suits your needs and preferences.

Integrated

Regarding the design, and despite the fact that the new Iconia Tab has been refined compared to its predecessor, it seems clear that if we are looking for a stylish tablet it will be the LG GPad II the one that will attract us the most, with much smaller frames. It is worth mentioning, however, that it seems that the new LG tablet is only going to be marketed in violet and gold, two somewhat atypical shades. With regard to materials, and as is normal for a tablet in its price range, plastic is the predominant material in both cases.

Dimensions

Those smaller frames of the tablet of LG they are quite noticeable when we look at the dimensions of each of them (25,43x16,11 inch against 26x17,6 inch), especially considering that the screen is the same size. Not only is the LG GPad II, in any case, but it is also quite finer (7,8 mm against 10,2 mm) and something lighter (489 grams against 508 grams).

Screen

As we just mentioned, the screen of both tablets is the same size (10.1 inches), but that is not the only similarity since they both have the same resolution as well (1920 x 1200) and therefore the same pixel density (PPI 224), in addition to using the same format (16:9, optimized for video playback) and the same type of panel (LCD). Absolute tie in this section, as you can see.

Performance

This section is where the tablet gets the most advantage from LG, since, despite not being a precisely new processor, the Snapdragon 800 (with four cores and 2,3 GHz of maximum frequency) that it mounts is much more powerful than the Mediatek of four cores to 1,5 GHz of the tablet Acer. Both have, yes, with 2 GB and, although the tablet of Iconia Tab arrives with Android KitKat pre-installed, the update to Android Lollipop.

Storage capacity

In the section of storage capacity, however, the advantage is now for the Iconia Tab, which is sold with 32 GB of internal memory, double the 16 GB what will the LG GPad II. It must be borne in mind, however, that with both we have the possibility of expanding the memory externally through a card micro-SD.

Cameras

We always insist that it is probably not a feature that should influence us too much when choosing a tablet, but in this case there is nothing that tips the balance in favor of one or the other: both have a main camera of 5 MP and another front of 2 MP.

Autonomy

Although the definitive data will be given by the autonomy tests, which also take consumption into account, the truth is that, despite its smaller size and thickness, the superiority of the LG GPad II is overwhelming in battery capacity (7400 mAh against 5910 mAh) and it is hard to think that victory could finally be for the Iconia Tab.

Price

We cannot, however, draw definitive conclusions regarding the quality / price ratio of both, since we do not yet know how much it will cost us. LG GPad II (Let's hope that LG will give us more details about its launch at the IFA in Berlin) and the only reference we have for the moment is the initial price of its predecessor, which was $250. The Iconia Tab, for its part, can already be found in some distributors for around $220. The question, therefore, is to see if the new LG tablet maintains the price of the first generation despite the important improvements introduced.
