Limbo is already on iOS. Enjoy one of the most awarded indie games

Limbo

Many have had it as a reference and have tried to use its groundbreaking aesthetic approach as bait for lovers of the indie game. However, in everything there is a first and Limbo was the first game that used backlighting and a dark aesthetic as a setting for platform games. It was first released on Xbox and then made the leap to Steam, the online gaming platform for PC and Mac, where it triumphed in a big way. Now Limbo comes to iOS and we can enjoy it on our iPad.

Playdead Studios made a risky but well-crafted bet back in 2010. That is why received more than 100 awards in the industry and specialized press that recognized its value and uniqueness.

The game is presented as typical of platforms with logic puzzles. So far everything normal but its aesthetics and the importance that it has in the dynamics of the game is very special. We see a screen in two dimensions in which the shadows make up the details of the stage and the obstacles, mobile and immobile that we will encounter. The little boy is our protagonist and also appears as a dark shadow cut out on a lighter background in the background. At times we can only distinguish him by his bright eyes. The result is a 2D or two-dimensional approach thanks to the use of backlight.

Limbo

The story is very blurry, which is in good harmony with the game. As some brief titles suggest at the beginning, a boy dares to go down into limbo to look for his sister. From there, you will have to pass various tests until you reach your goal.

The controls are simple and we will quickly learn to jump, run and climb. Its difficulty consists of logical puzzles, which we will solve through trial and error.

As we said, the game has been imitated on many occasions in a more or less obvious way. We have several examples: Dark, available both for Android as for iOS, BADLAND, which won a apple design award, or the newcomer on the two platforms, Hero of many. With only a few days of life on the platform, we can already say that it is one of the best games for iPad.

Limbo for iPad costs 4,49 euros in the App Store. It is very worth it and you only think it is wrong that it lasts so little.
