Miix 510 vs MateBook: comparison

Lenovo Miix 510 Huawei MateBook

Among the inevitable duels for the new Miix 510 de Lenovo there is no doubt that there is also the one who faces the MateBook, a direct competitor in that the tablet of Huawei was also presented as an affordable alternative to professional tablets with Windows 10 reference, whose prices quite easily reach 1000 euros. Which of the two has finally managed to offer us a better quality / price ratio? As always, let's see it with a comparative in which we review the Technical specifications of these two tablets.

Integrated

As we saw that it also happened with the Galaxy TabPro S, a point in favor of the design of the Miix 510 is that, like the rest of the range, it has adopted the characteristic rear support of the Surface, which allows us to keep it vertical even if we are not using it with the keyboard. Regarding aesthetics, although both are of classic lines, the MateBook it is much more stylized, with noticeably thinner frames. Huawei's tablet, in addition, can boast of having a fingerprint reader. The two arrive, yes, with a metal casing.

Dimensions

That difference that we have just mentioned regarding the thickness of the frames is strongly noticed when we compare the size of each of them (30x20,5 inch against 27,89x18,41 inch). The tablet of HuaweiIn any case, it is not only more compact but it is also considerably lighter (900 grams against 640 grams) and fine (9,9 mm against 6,9 mm).

Screen

Part of the difference that we have just seen that exists in the dimension section between both tablets, although hardly all of it, can be attributed to the difference in size between their screens (12.2 inches against 12 inches). It should also be noted, in any case, that the resolution is not the same either, since the MateBook once again has an advantage in this section (2160 x 1440 against 1920 x 1200).

Performance

If we compare the basic versions of both tablets, we find that both have 4 GB of RAM memory, although the Miix 510 mounts a Intel Core i3 and MateBook an Intel Core m3. If we are interested in higher configurations, on the other hand, we must bear in mind that with both we can have up to 8 GB of RAM memory, but the top in processor for the tablet of Huawei is a Intel Core m7, while for the other it is a Intel Core i7.

Storage capacity

The scale also remains balanced in the section of storage capacity if we limit ourselves to the standard model, but again it is the tablet of Lenovo the one that goes the furthest in the opposite direction, with a maximum of 1 TB of internal memory, double that of 512 GB that mark the top for the de Huawei. Both counts, yes, with a card slot micro-SD.

Cameras

Si Lenovo decided to sacrifice some resolution to keep the price low, Huawei He opted to do without the main camera, something that seems quite reasonable, especially on a tablet of this size. With the MateBook, therefore, we will only have a front camera of 5 MP, while with the Miix 510 we will have a main chamber of 5 MP and another front of 2 MP.

Autonomy

We will have to wait to have tests of real use to be able to confirm what is the real autonomy of the Miix 510 and if it improves or not to the MateBook in this section (of which it must be said that this is not its strongest point), since, in the absence of data on the capacity of its battery, we cannot make any kind of prior estimate.

Price

The price of the Miix 510 For our country it has finally turned out to be somewhat higher than that announced for the United States, but it is still one of the best we have seen in a tablet with these characteristics: $700. The MateBookHowever, it is also a very interesting option in this sense and can be found around $900 with the included keyboard.

Do you know if and when the i5 version with 8Gb of RAM of the MIIX 510 will arrive? On the Spanish website only the i3 with 4Gb of RAM and the i7 with 8Gb of RAM appear, however in Lenovo Germany the i5 with 8Gb of RAM and the i7 with 8Gb of RAM appear. In each country do they sell different products? If a Spaniard wants the i5 version, they can't, just as if a German wants the i3, they can't ...
