Two big names in the mobile gaming industry are coming together to launch what will undoubtedly be one of the most popular titles on 2015: As we discovered today, next year we will see the debut of a version of Minecraft with history mode and for this, Mojang, the responsible studio, has decided to partner with nothing less than Telltale.
Telltale and Mojang to team up to develop Minecraft: Story Mode
Minecraft It is undoubtedly one of the most popular cross-platform games, and as far as the mobile games sector is concerned, its popularity has nothing to envy of the best sellers such as Angry Birds. So much is the potential of the brand, that Microsoft did not hesitate to get hold of Mojang this year for nothing more and nothing less than 2500 million.
Admittedly, the investment made by the Redmond did not stop being a surprise and the truth is that no one really explained why until we learned at the end of this summer that they planned to turn the game into an educational platform. Unfortunately, for the moment, we still don't know much more about this project.
What we do know now is that whatever happens in the future with that other use that Microsoft plans to give the franchise, it will not interfere with the launch of new titles and the one that seems to be more immediate on the horizon now, could not be more promising: as we anticipated, it will be a more narrative version of the game that will be developed with the collaboration of Mojang with Telltale.
For now we do not have many details of what the story will be or its characteristics or game mechanics, although the participation of Telltale it can give us a good clue in which direction we should expect it to move. As you already know, Telltale is the study behind some of the most interesting titles we've seen in recent times, like The Walking Dead or the newly released Game of Thrones, and it is to be hoped that we will find a formula similar to these for this new title.
