More than 60% of Android devices already have Jelly Bean

Android versions

Jelly Bean continues to gain ground and in the latest data from Google we can verify that finally has managed to overcome the 60% barrier. The figures are less positive, however, for the brand new 4.4 Android KitKat which is still an extremely minority, with an adoption rate still well below 5%.

We already have with us the adoption data of the latest versions of Android for the month of February and with them it is time to take stock again of the evolution of the fragmentation of the ecosystem that, in reality, is quite little compared to the data of January, almost inviting to speak of stagnation.

Jelly Bean and KitKat keep growing, but very slowly

The growth in adoption levels of Jelly Bean continues, but the change in trend is evident and the rate at which it increases has changed a lot in recent months: despite the fact that it has finally exceeded 60% (reaching a 62%, more concretely) in the last three months the rise has been barely 7 points.

Worse sensations, in any case, the evolution of the figures for 4.4 Android KitKat that has not yet managed to be installed in even 5% of the devices: the data for February indicate that only one 2,5% of users, that is, not even 1% more than the last month. As we can see, it seems that the latest version of Android is a long way from getting off the ground.

Android 4.5 in summer?

It seems, however, that there is still a long way to go until Google release the next version of its mobile operating system that, according to the latest news, that it wouldn't arrive until the summer with the next generation Nexus 7, which would give manufacturers a few months of margin to update their smartphones and tablets.
