The launch of the Huawei Mate 9 and the OnePlus 3T has had us quite busy in recent weeks, but we do not want to miss the opportunity to dedicate some comparative to another of the interesting phablets that saw the light last month (fortunately it has not yet arrived in our country, so we still have time to help the undecided), in this case in the mid-range field, the Moto M, and we are going to start facing their Technical specifications with those of the Moto G4 Plus, to see exactly how they differ.
Integrated
In the design is what is probably one of the biggest differences between the two and it is for the first time we see a mid-range phablet of Motorola with metal casing, something that surely many would be waiting for and that gives a plus to the new Moto M versus Moto G4 Plus. Both also have a fingerprint reader.
Dimensions
There are also interesting differences in the dimension section, since the new model is somewhat more compact than the one. Moto G4 Plus (15,14x7,54 inch against 15,3x7,66 inch) and, above all, much finer (7,9 mm against 9,8 mm). In weight it is in the only aspect in which it seems that we are losing, although it is true that the difference is very small (163 grams against 155 grams).
Screen
In the screen section we already have less material to tip the balance from one side or the other, since their technical specifications are the same: both have a screen of 5.5 inches with Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080) and therefore the same pixel density (PPI 401). The only thing that distinguishes them is that the Moto M uses AMOLED panels while those of the Moto G4 Plus they are LCD.
Performance
Regarding the performance section, on the one hand we have the same processor in both models (Snapdragon 617 eight-core and 1,5 GHz), but from another, the Moto M yes, it has received a boost in terms of RAM, so that the standard model surpasses the one of the Moto G4 Plus (3 GB against 2 GB), always without losing sight of the fact that it is available in higher configurations also in any case.
Storage capacity
Again, if we limit ourselves to comparing the basic model of each one, the victory in storage capacity goes back to the Moto M, which has double the internal memory (32 GB against 16 GB). Both have, of course, a card slot micro-SD, which always alleviates enough space problems that may arise.
Cameras
Another point where the Moto M surpasses the Moto G4 Plus It is the cameras, but only in what it does to the front camera (8 MP against 5 MP), since the main one would be identical, with 16 MP and f / 2.0 aperture, something pretty standard for a mid-range phablet, in any case.
Autonomy
In the autonomy section there has also been theoretically some improvement with the Moto M thanks to a slightly higher capacity battery (3050 mAh against 3000 mAh), surprising to think that it is actually a thinner device, but the difference is so small that it is hard to believe that it could have a significant impact. As we always remember, we will not be able to say anything definitively, in any case, until we see the results of the tests of real use.
Price
As at the moment it has not been launched in our country, we do not have an official price yet for the Moto M in euros, and the only thing we can leave you for the moment is the translation into our currency of its price in China, which leaves it at around 275 euros but it is likely that the official figure in euros when it arrives here will be higher. The Moto G4 Plus, meanwhile, has dropped even more in price and can be found for less than $250.
