Mozilla has announced that it will launch its launcher for Android. This project had been on the organization's agenda for a long time but it was not until yesterday when, within the framework of the InContext conference, Mozilla and EverythingMe have briefly taught the Firefox Launcher for Android.
Since 2012 Mozilla collaborated with EverythingMe, having invested 25 million in total in this project. This company is the creator of a great launcher for Android that brought out the colors of the contemporary Facebook Home. His approach is based on that the interface of our phone adapts to our needs and circumstances. To do this, it dynamically changes depending on the query or the theme that we propose.
The mobile as a personal assistant
When EvertythingMe was introduced in mid-2013 we were really impressed. His idea is that the telephone become a personal assistant. The starting point is not the applications themselves, but the issues we deal with with them, the people we want to contact, the information we want to get. From there we are recommended to open the applications that can offer us something on that subject and with the information loaded directly.
This launcher was not a great success but it did show us a new conception of mobile devices. Something so personal that we carry with ourselves should be able to adapt more to our needs. Google Now and perhaps Siri, are moving in that direction and it seems that Microsoft is also with Cortana.
Now this dynamism of EverythingMe is combined with the Mozilla Firefox browser to go one step further. We understand that many of the plugins of this browser can come into play as well as the HTML5 applications that we can already enjoy in the Firefox OS operating system.
Mozilla has not given too many details of the new features that we will find, although it has assured us that when they reach a fairly stable development point, the beta testing phase will open.
Yes they have left us an image of the launcher running in the morning, so it appears that the interface also will vary depending on the time of day and maybe of the location, something that Cover proposed recently.
