Nexus 6P vs Galaxy S6 edge +: comparison

Google Nexus 6P Samsung Galaxy S6 edge +

As you no doubt already know, a new Nexus phablet has just seen the light and, if yesterday we put it face to face with the most current phablet, the iPhone 6s Plus, today it is time to do it with another of the most fashionable ones and that was probably until now the one of reference in the Android territory. We refer, of course, to Galaxy S6 edge +, which at least in Europe, has taken over from the pioneering range of large screens, the Galaxy Note. Which of the two is the call to dominate among Android smartphones with a screen larger than 5.5 inches? We measure your Technical specifications in this comparative to find out.

Integrated

Although the design of the Nexus 6P has not been received very well, just the opposite of what happens with the attractive curved screen of the Galaxy S6 edge +, the truth is that we focus on more objective evaluations are quite equal: in both cases we have, for example, premium materials (aluminum in the phablet of Google and crystal on the phablet of Samsung) and we also have a fingerprint reader.

Dimensions

Here, however, the advantage is clear for the phablet of Samsung that despite having a screen of the same size is much more compact (15,93x7,78 inch against 15,44x7,58 inch) and light (178 grams against 153 grams). In thickness it is also the winner but the difference is more difficult to appreciate (7,3 mm against 6,9 mm).

Nexus 6P profile

Screen

As we have just indicated, the screen of both is the same size (5.7 inches), but this is not the only thing they have in common, since both also have Quad HD resolution (2560 x 1440) and therefore with the same pixel density (PPI 518). We also have AMOLED screen in both. Nothing here to tip the balance in one direction or the other.

Performance

In the performance section, however, we do see the Galaxy S6 edge + in the lead, even if the difference is not too great, at least in technical specifications because although the Snapdragon 810 and Exynos 7420 who assemble the phablet of Google and of Samsung, respectively, have similar characteristics (eight cores and frequency of 2,0 GHz the first and of 2,1 GHz the second), we know from the benchmarks that the performance of the latter is quite superior. It also has more RAM memory (3 GB against 4 GB). On the other hand, however, it cannot be omitted to mention that the fluidity of Android stock has always been far superior to that of TouchWiz.

Storage capacity

The tables turn and the Nexus 6P gains ground if we consider the storage capacity of each one, not so much if we compare the basic models, since in both cases we would have 32 GB of internal memory without the possibility of external memory expansion, but if we are looking for the maximum possible hard disk, the phablet of Google will be sold with up to 128 GBwhile that of Samsung, for the moment at least, it is only available with 64 GB.

Galaxy S6 Edge missed call

Cameras

If we look only at the number of megapixels the victory is very clear for the Galaxy S6 edge + as regards the main chamber (12,3 MP against 16 MP), but it should be noted that Google yesterday made a lot of emphasis that its strongest point was the size of the pixels. We hope to be able to bring you soon a sample of photographs that allows us to judge more strongly the quality of both cameras. Regarding the front camera, the winner is, in any case, the Nexus 6P (8 MP against 5 MP).

Autonomy

This is another strong point of the phablet of Huawei, which has a battery of 3450 mAh, much higher than that of the Galaxy S6 edge +, although this one is not bad either, with 3000 mAh. The last word, in any case, you already know that the autonomy tests will have it, from which we also hope to give you results soon.

Price

Although everything points to the price of Nexus 6P will be considerably higher in Europe than announced for the United States due to the situation of exchange rates, it seems that it will continue to be considerably cheaper than the Galaxy S6 edge +, something not too difficult, on the other hand, if we think that this is one of the most expensive that we can buy: the phablet of Google It is expected to go on sale for $650 (We will be pending to confirm it as soon as possible), while the second would cost us at least $800.
