PadFone 2, the smartphone convertible into a tablet, arrives on October 16

ASUS PadFone 2 presentation

ASUS has confirmed the rumor that the PadFone 2 will be presented on October 16 at a conference in Milan. The Taiwanese brand has launched a small website that has been disseminated on its social networks. In the same direction and from 11 in the morning of that date they will broadcast the presentation of a very special device that follows in the wake of the first PadFone, that smartphone that becomes a tablet and, as a last resort, netbook.

ASUS PadFone 2 presentation

PadFone 2 has someone to look at. Although the first model of this series was not very commercially successful, it proposed a very simple and useful thing: to enable a single data rate and to unify all the contents of all the mobile and portable devices that a technology user wants to have, that is, a smartphone, tablet and laptop.

The operation was simple, our phone was inserted into a 10-inch screen with its own battery and a tablet was made. In this, the operating system and all the applications made a visual adaptation to this type of screen, resulting in a functional tablet from all views. Finally we can add a keyboard dock to turn it into a netbook. Again we get an extra battery. It is an idea that Nexphone has also developed to a considerable extent.

A few weeks ago we saw some leaks, which took place in a Chinese forum, of a poster that ASUS had prepared for the presentation as well as of the product box in which we could read the technical specifications of the new model. According to those photos PadFone 2 would be a real beast. This device would be more of a phablet than a phone, with 4,7 inch screen to a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. I would take a processor Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro de quad cores at 1,5GHZ and with a Adreno GPU 320. I would also have 2 GB of RAM. It would have two cameras, the 13 MPX rear. Its battery would be 2140 mAh. All with connection Wi-Fi + LTE. The apparatus would weigh 135 grams and would have 9 mm of thickness. Ie Galaxy Note II could shake.

Nothing was said about the tablet, but I think we can wait 6 more days to see if these rumors were true and to discover the specifications of the rest of the components.
