How much more has the new phablet of Google compared to the previous model in addition to the name? Integrated
Although the two have a somewhat peculiar aesthetic that makes them quite distinctive, they are quite different from each other, especially when it comes to the back cover. It should also be noted that, although the finishes are spectacular in both cases, there are also changes in the materials, since the pixel XL combines metal with glass on the back shell, while on the Nexus 6P we found the classic aluminum casing. Both, of course, have a fingerprint reader.
Dimensions
El pixel XL it is considerably more compact than its predecessor (15,47x 7,57 cm against 15,93x7,78 inch), although it must be taken into account that not everything is simple optimization, but that the Nexus 6P has a slightly larger screen, which may also explain the difference in weight (168 grams against 178 grams). The thickness, on the other hand, is the same (7,3 mm).
Screen
What we are going to notice the most, regarding the screen, is the difference in size (5.5 inches against 5.7 inches), because while waiting for the more detailed analyzes that can reveal other improvements (brightness, contrasts, etc.), we continue to find an AMOLED panel with resolution Quad HD, although, logically, being smaller that of the pixel, gain in pixel density (PPI 534 against PPI 518).
Performance
In the performance section, we have improvements but nothing out of the expected and probably nothing that is too noticeable in the most daily use, although probably with more demanding applications: the 4 GB RAM memory and instead of Snapdragon 810 we find the latest high-end processor from Qualcomm: The Snapdragon 821.
Storage capacity
Another section where things do not change too much is that of storage capacity, since the Pixel phablet continues to offer us the same 32 GB with which the standard model arrived but without a micro-SD card slot. A little extra is that it will offer us unlimited storage of photos and videos in high resolution in Google Photos, which helps us a little to compensate for that lack.
Cameras
In the cameras section the figures have not changed much: if we look at the basic technical specifications we still have a main camera of 12 MP with pixels of 1,55 micrometers and aperture f / 2.0 and a front camera of 8 MP. It seems, however, that the software improvements that have been introduced have been enough to represent a considerable evolution, at least in the opinion of DxOMark which, according to Google in the presentation, has qualified it as the best camera so far .
Autonomy
You already know that autonomy is an aspect about which nothing definitive can be said until the device is tested, but it seems that the new pixel XL should have an advantage, thinking that we have a battery of the same capacity (3450 mAh) to feed a screen of the same resolution but a little smaller.
Price
This is the point in favor of Nexus 6P right now: although probably the price for which the new one will finally be sold pixel XL In our country it does not differ much from the one that the previous phablet had at the time (at the moment we only know that in the United States it will cost 770 dollars), at present the phablet manufactured by Huawei it can be found quite easily in some distributors for prices that go as low as 500 euros.
