Almost half of Android devices have Jelly Bean

Android versions

The figures are still far from being as spectacular as those of iOS, but the expansion of Jelly Bean continues at a pace not too fast perhaps, but certainly firm: the data for the month of October have already been made public showing that the 48,6% of the devices Android do Android 4.1 or higher version as an operating system.

As is well known by now, one of the main problems that users of Android it's your reliance on device manufacturers' upgrade plans, which aren't always as fast as we'd like. On the side of Google (and developers), on the contrary, the problem is high degree of fragmentation that reigns and that contrasts sharply against the dominant homogeneity in the ecosystem iOS, in which shortly after a week of its launch almost 2 out of 3 devices were already updated to iOS 7. The situation, however, is improving month by month.

Jelly Bean about to reach 50%

In the last two months, the percentage of adoption of Jelly Bean has grown by almost 10 points, going from 40,5% al 48,6%. The arrival of Android 4.3 it has not affected this growth in any way, as it is also considered a "minor" update of this version. It thus becomes the most used version in the sector Android, with enough difference already on Gingerbread (28,5%).

Waiting for the arrival of Android 4.4 Kit-Kat

Even though the arrival of Android 4.3 has not been an obstacle to the expansion of Jelly Bean, the next update, Android 4.4, it will be already Kit Kat and, therefore, it will already suppose a new source of fragmentation. The worst problem for Google, in any case, it is undoubtedly in that significant number of devices that have not received any update after Gingerbread. Although there is no official confirmation, the presentation of Android 4.4. take place this month.
