For quite some time it was speculated that Asus could make a version of Nexus 7 by U.S. dollar 99, although the rumor never materialized. Some media are now putting the rumor of a tablet back on the table low-cost of the Taiwanese company that, however, would not be a device of Google.
Most of the rumors that circulated in the weeks preceding the failed event of Google in October, in which the new models of Nexus 7 and Nexus 10, were finally confirmed: both the seven-inch version with more hard drives like the model with 3G connection they became a reality. Only one of the rumors seemed to remain simply that, and did not take shape: a model of the compact tablet of Google that would be sold for only U.S. dollar 99 to compete with tablets low-cost.
The possibility that Asus manufactured this device seemed to be completely buried, but some media are resuscitating it, yes, with an important change: the project would be exclusive to the Taiwanese, since it would not be any device Nexus. As stated Android Authority, there are rumors that Asus could be preparing a 7-inch tablet with significantly lower specifications than the Nexus 7 and that it would also be sold for a significantly lower price, although concrete figures are not yet available. The new tablet would have a resolution of 1024 x 600, a VIA WM8950 processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage capacity, card holder microSD, a battery of 4270 mAh y Jelly Bean as an operating system. According to the same sources, the device could be presented at the CES of 2013.
Although the source is a fairly reliable medium, it is inevitable to receive the news with some skepticism, since it would be a rather unexpected turn within the staregy that Asus has followed so far. We will be waiting for any news in this regard.
