Perhaps you remember that at the end of last year we told you that Samsung presented the new RAM memory modules that would allow to reach the 4 GB in smartphones and, indeed, throughout this year we have seen that a few manufacturers decided to bet on them, so that smartphones with this huge amount of RAM are a reality. Well, it seems that we can start preparing for a new jump, if possible even more spectacular and that surpasses what most of us would have expected. We give you all the details of the latest announcement of the company.
Up to 6 GB of memory on our mobile devices
Although it may be hard to believe Samsung has just presented its new 12 Gb LPDDR4 RAM modules and, as they themselves have confirmed, this means making it possible to wear nothing less than 6 GB of RAM our mobile devices (Each of these modules adds up to 1,5 GB and joining four of them, as is done now with the 1 GB ones to reach 4 GB, we could have a total of 6 GB). It is not only that they have more capacity, in any case, but that they are also a 30% faster than the previous generation (and twice as fast, according to the Koreans, than DDR4 DRAM for PC) and that consume 20% less.
Of course, a fundamental question remains to be discussed and that is how much it can improve our user experience with 6 GB of RAM on our smartphone or tablet because, obviously, one thing is that it can be done and another thing that is desirable. We have no doubt that many are going to be skeptical to say the least, taking into account that there are not a few who already see the 4 GB as something not exactly essential, to put it mildly. On SamsungIn any case, they promise us that thanks to them we will be able to achieve the best performance in multitasking and, of course, they trust that we will soon see them in future flagships (as of 2016, of course), and seeing that smartphones with 4 GB ended up arriving, the truth is that we are inclined to believe that the same will happen with the 6 GB ones.
