Samsung gets Tizen to win support as an alternative to Google and Android

Tizen 3.0

Just yesterday Samsung gave more specific dates on the future of Tizen. The operating system that it is developing together with Intel and the Linux Foundation continues to grow and find support among manufacturers and operators. It was announced Tizen 3.0 and Tizen Lite, a reduced version and less demanding at the hardware level for mid-range and low-end devices. In turn, some of the services and new alliances that the project joins were discussed.

The Korean and American company spoke to us yesterday about the characteristics of this version of their OS. Many new potentials were incorporated, transmitting feelings of power and health of the project.

Adding supports: Nokia Maps

One of the most surprising things about yesterday's announcements was the realization that it will be the Nokia map service, now owned by Microsoft, whoever uses this platform. This is one more symptom of the determination with which Samsung wants to eliminate its dependency on Google root.

Yesterday it was confirmed that the project has 36 new partners among which are the aforementioned Nokia, eBay, McAffe, Panasonic, Sharp, Weather Channel, etc ... These join very diverse companies in the technology and telecommunications sectors, such as Vodafone, Huawei, Fujitsu and others.

Make the bed to Google

The image that this union of so many different agents draws is quite clear: they all want to have alternatives to their relationship with Google. It could be interpreted even more drastically, they could be preparing to make the bed for Google and its services, not just your Android operating system.

And it is that the project transcends mobile devices, also wanting to provide a solution for televisions, cameras, automotive and wearable computers. This last field is one of the most advanced.

The deadlines for the launch of the first phone with Tizen have been delayed and there is already talk of early 2014 for sale. The official presentation could therefore take place at CES or at MWC. A tablet with Tizen would also be on the agenda.

What remains to be seen now is how Google will react to this very firm stance of the company that makes the 63% of terminals using your OS.
