Sony Xperia Z vs Z1 vs Z2, how has its performance improved?

Xperia Z vs. Z1 vs. Z2

In the last year and a half, Sony has launched three high-end terminals of the same line. Since the first Xperia Z premiered at CES in Las Vegas 2013, the Japanese firm has established itself among the best Android manufacturers, displaying the most powerful hardware of each generation, with a personal and exclusive design and a resistance to water and dust that other manufacturers are now trying to imitate.

Today we propose a retrospective exercise through which we will see how Sony's flagship terminal has improved its performance in every generation. We remind you that the Z was presented in January 2013, the Z1 in September of the same year and the Z2 last February. Thus, the time that separates the launch of each of them is short, although enough to see an evolution remarkable.

The Xperia Z has a processor Snapdragon S4 Pro and 2GB of RAM.

The Xperia Z1 has a Snapdragon 800 and 2GB of RAM.

The Xperia Z2 has a Snapdragon 801 and 3GB of RAM.

What do the benchmarks say?

The following video collects some performance test made with all three terminals simultaneously. As you can see, not only his speed has increased, but also the size it grows a little with each generational leap.

We see that the test shows a practically similar power in the Z1 and in the Z2, while the Xperia Z it falls far short of its successors. In fact, the evolution of processor between the two most recent models it is minimal.

Internet speed

Let everyone draw their conclusions. We see that, in one attempt after another, the results are different.

If anything, the moral may be that we should not always trust these types of applications, although the X it usually shows a higher speed than the other two terminals on a regular basis.

Start-up test

With Android KitKat installed on the three computers, the boot time differs depending on the hardware of each one, as we saw in the first test.

Indeed, the Z2 is the fastest; although, in this case, the Z and Z1 are more evenly matched.

The Sony Xperia Z and kit kat 4.4 make the battery last nothing, a huge failure in a "high-end" terminal despite pointing out Google as the cause of the incompatibility, the same will happen with the Z1 and the Z2 with the passage of months???

I have an Xperia Z that I am very happy with. But when I upgraded to kit kat, the same thing happened to me, it got hot and the battery lasted the least, exasperating. It was a matter of backing up, restoring the system, and perfect. The battery lasts even longer than before, it no longer gets hot and runs smooth and with the latest features.

The high quality and durability of the Sony Xperia has helped this brand compete with and can sometimes beat the leading brands in cell phones.

I have enjoyed the Z1 since September 2013 and now, having just released the Z2 and comparing them (my wife has inherited the Z1) I can affirm that the Japanese at Sony have done an excellent job.
    The battery lasts much longer.
The sound finally has decent speakers. The Z1 was good compared to any Samsung. But now you finally have two speakers where they correspond to be located.
The large frame at both ends and that is criticized so much for having been used to enlarge the useful screen, is really perfect to take the terminal in a horizontal position and not be disturbed. So I don't understand so much free criticism ..
The camera, whether by processing or whatever, has gained a lot in general quality. Especially in photos of interiors, with little light… And especially fast.
Its video recording quality is second to none.
No pause or jump as if they do HTC one M8 and of course Samsung S4.
The water capacity of the Z1 is certainly more than contrasted by my experience, since September it has accompanied me in all my daily showers, and baths with the princess of the house ... Putting videos of pink panther or pocoyo and taking advantage of one to then wash the hair.
Personally very satisfied with the evolution, the 3 gb of ram is noticeable ...
And I have always been a faithful follower of HTC ...
