Sony takes over from Samsung at the IFA and presents a whole range of new products with the Z3 label. Along with the new smartphone Xperia Z3, and its reduced version Xperia Z3 Compact, the Z3 Xperia Tablet Compact, a device that comes to fill the gap in its catalog of a smaller tablet that competes against the iPad mini, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and other models of similar dimensions, also the future Nexus 9.
Big news day in Germany, the capital of the Central European country is hosting one of the most interesting fairs in recent years, with many of the major manufacturers on the international scene presenting their credentials for the latter part of the year. This is the case of Sony, the Japanese have been quite active throughout 2014 but it seems that they saved the best for the month of September. The Xperia Z3 Tablet is one of the devices most anticipated from the firm, since it fulfills the aspirations of many of the users related to the firm.
After the successful launch of the Xperia Z2 Tablet last February, it was the ideal time to dare with a new size, one that had not had a place in their catalog until now. The Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact will keep many of the elements that have served its "sisters" to win the favor of consumers and critics, with features of high end and a design without great variations.
Although it is called the Z3, it could well be called the Xperia Z2 Tablet Compact, since it looks like a mini version of the device presented in February, since they are technically very similar except for the screen size that joins the current trend: 8 inches. It has a 1.920 x 1.200 pixel resolution and uses TRILUMINOS technology. Inside we find the Qualcomm processor, the Snapdragon 801, accompanied by 3 GB of RAM and 16/32 GB of memory for expandable storage through the micro SD card slot.
The rear is commanded by a camera 8 megapixels with an Exmor RS sensor manufactured by Sony itself, and on the front a 2 megapixel with R sonsor. There is a variant with LTE connectivity although we can opt for a cheaper one, just WiFi. The technical sheet is completed by a battery of 4.500 mAh and Android 4.4 Kitkat that serves as the basis of the company's own interface.
The design continues to be one of the highlights of the tablet, built in plastic, the metal frames reflect that it is a high-quality equipment. Its dimensions do not disappoint, 213 x 124 millimeters and an unmatched thickness to date. 6,4 mm. The whole set barely reaches 270 grams. Without forgetting that it maintains the IP68 certification for which we can submerge the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact in water up to two meters deep.
