Superbook: a project to turn your Android smartphone or tablet into a laptop for 99 dollars

Andromium has stood out for being a popular project that tries to portray Android to desktop computers, long before Google even announced that Chromebooks will be able to run apps from the Play Store. This firm has just presented a new concept that will try to finance itself through kickstarter to become a real product. As an idea, the truth is that it has been bright, but we will have to wait and see if it gets the necessary financing.  

Some will remember the endeavor of Asus with a device baptized as PadPhone in his day. It was a smartphone capable of inserting itself into a screen to move it as if it were a tablets, to which you could also incorporate a keyboard and make it a kind of laptop. If the idea seemed interesting; the execution, unfortunately, gave rise to a device that could not be any of the three things (smartphone, tablet or PC) to a decent level.

What is Superbook?

In the end, as we say, it is difficult to bring together several formats on the same basis, although the project Superbook seems to have found a rather interesting system. The device that will shortly enter the phase of through crowdfunding it is a mere housing capable of taking advantage of the internal components of a terminal Android (smartphone or tablet) to get the case to work at notebook mode.

As they point out in Android Authority, all we have to do is connect the android to the Superbook through a cable Micro USB or type C. The requirements don't seem too restrictive either. It is only necessary to have an Android terminal with the Lollipop version or higher, and install an application of Google Play Store to synchronize operation with the laptop.

Technical data and how it will cope

Its design, as you can see in the images, is very similar to the laptop line Macbook Apple in the keyboard and trackpad area. The screen has a diagonal of 11,6 inches and resolution 1366 × 768. It offers more than 8 hours of autonomy and we can even charge the smartphone or tablet when connecting them. What we will receive from the Superbook screen is an Android translated to desktop interface: we will be able to navigate through its folders comfortably and run millions of common applications and some specific to the device.
