Surface Book 2: this is Microsoft's new convertible

It had been rumored that in the event of Microsoft by the end of this month I could see the light next to the new Surface Pro LTE also a new convertible laptop, something that seemed reasonable considering the time that had passed since the launch of the first one, but finally there was no need to wait that long and we can now confirm that the Surface Book 2 it's official.

This is the new Surface Book 2

Regarding the design there are few new features compared to its predecessor, and the most interesting thing is still the hinge that makes it a convertible, since it allows you to rotate until you place the keyboard behind and use only the touch screen, although you already know that in this case we do not have to settle for that, but we can completely undock it and free ourselves of weight. The keyboard, by the way, is backlit.

The great news is really in the fact that this second generation arrives in two models, which are distinguished only on the outside by their size, thinking of those who buy it as a substitute for a laptop and those who 13.5 inches they are too small. Well, for all of them there is now a model that will reach the 15 inches. The difference in weight is considerable, yes (1,9 Kg against 1,5 Kg).

Among the things that do not change between one model and another are the ports, and this time, if we are not going to have to miss a USB type-C port along with other USB type A ports, there are also no differences in the audio section. , with Dolby Atmos sound in both cases (with support also for headphones).

Once again, great technical specs and a spectacular display

For the 15-inch model, the resolution has been increased a bit (3240 x 2160 instead of 3000 x 2000), in order not to lose too much in pixel density, since its fantastic screen has always been one of the great attractions of the Surface Book. It is not the only difference, however, since they also come with slightly different configurations.

To begin with, in the 13-inch model we have the option of getting a 7th Gen Intel Core iXNUMX, but the basic configuration mounts a Intel Core i5 seventh generation, an option that we will not have in the larger model. The same happens with RAM, in the first we start from 8 GB although we can get to 16 GB, and in the second we will have 16 GB of departure. It should also be noted that the two arrive with a Nvidia GeForce GTX on the model with i7, but the smallest one is the 1050 and the other the 1060.

In what they should not differentiate is in autonomy, which Microsoft promises it's nothing less than 17 hours for both (although they are reduced to 5 hours if we use it in tablet mode to watch video). We also have in the two models a main camera of 8 MP and another 5 MP, much more than most would need, even if we use it without the keyboard, and the same storage options, ranging from 256GB to 1TB.

Will it arrive in Spain this time?

What we do not know yet and it is the good news that we hope to be able to give you at some point, is if this time it will arrive in Spain or not. Anyway, if it has conquered you, you already know that in the worst case it will end up being possible to get it imported. We will have to prepare to wait (it will not launch until mid-November) and make an important investment, because its price will start from the U.S. dollar 1500.
