Tegra 4: benchmark results in Toshiba Excite Pro

4 Tegra SoC

This week there was much talk about the first Snadragon 800 performance tests carried out on two prototypes made for the occasion by Qualcomm itself, although a few days before perfectly finished tablets were presented in Madrid and will be on sale really soon with Nvidia Tegra 4, the most direct competitor that the aforementioned chip has. These are the benchmark results of the models presented.

We are talking about the new Toshiba Excite Pro and Writer that carry the Tegra 4 (T40S) chip accompanied by 2 GB of RAM with Android 4.2.2 at the controls. The remarkable thing about the brilliant results obtained is that they have a 10,1-inch screen with a resolution of 2.560 x 1.600 pixels, so the graphic effort you have to do is much greater than the 1920 x 1080 pixels used by those of Qualcomm.

Recall that the Tegra 4 of these tablets is composed of a CPU of Quad Core Cortex-A15 1,8 GHz added to a 72-core GeForce GPU. We go with the test results obtained by these tablets, thanks to our colleagues at Engadget.

In the test of AnTuTu achieved results of 27.113 points. This is well below the 35.783 points achieved by the Snapdragon 800. However, with Project Shield it reached 32.150 points although in its presentation at MWC 2013 it reached 36.305 points.

En Quadrant, Toshiba Excite Pro scores 12.343 points. They seem few compared to 20.762 for the Qualcomm composite. In his presentation at MWC 2013 he obtained 16.234 points.

Pulling data from other older samples provided by Android Police, we can tell you that Tegra 4 in Vellamo 2.0, which measures performance with HTML5, gets 3.300 points. On Sun spider that assesses performance with Javascript gets 494 ms, less being better.

As we can see the results of Tegra 4 are impressive. Now that we know those of the Snapdragon 800 they seem to be left behind but it must also be seen that the Qualcomm compound was made for a presentation to the public. If you are interested you can see here, also the results obtained in Vellamo and Sun Spider, where curiously Tegra 4 wins.
