There is no doubt that much of the success of WhatsApp it is maintained, year after year, on the large user base that it already has. Although the application has very positive aspects, mainly, a lightweight software with a magnificent graphical interface, which makes it stand out enormously over Line, Facebook Messenger or HangOuts, our pulse does not shake when we write that Telegram It is as good as WhatsApp in those sections and much better in others.
The fact that it is so extremely cumbersome to use the world's most popular messaging service on a tablet (you have to work with the versión web or unlink the account on the mobile), has given wings to Telegram in this type of support, where it can be used without major problem, with great solvency and in a version perfectly adapted to the format larger screen. I myself am beginning to adopt it as the main communication channel with all those contacts who have made room for the application on their smartphone, tablet or PC.
It is really remarkable the amount of adjustments that Telegram will allow us to make in terms of fullfilment of security requirements, something in which WhatsApp is light years away. To establish the level of privacy of the conversations we can do it contact by contact or in a general way in the application, as we will show you below.
Private conversations
By clicking on the photo of one of our contacts and giving to 'start secret chat' (marked in green), we will make the name not appear in the notifications and we will only see that conversation from the device we are using at the moment. In addition, by clicking again on the photo of the other person within the secret chat we will have the option to make the messages are destroyed some time after they have been read.
Personal info and password
Going to 'Settings'> 'Privacy and security' we can configure different aspects of our account. Put a password to enter the application (and the time it will take to block again), decide to which contacts we show our last minute connected or if we suppress it for everyone.
Notification information
In the notifications section we can select if we want to have a 'preview' (activating or deactivating that option) of the message on the notification screen, in such a way that if we combine this function with an access code, we will have the alerts in the unlock area no contact name, nor a preview of the message, and to access them we must enter the code. This way we will be completely safe from the curious if we neglect the tablet at some point.
Personalize contacts
Nobody can deny it, between the contacts there are classes. We will always be more receptive to incoming messages from some than from others. While WhatsApp does not allow (for now) assign a specific tone to a friend for notifications or a color in the LED indicator, that is something that we can do with Telegram. Click on the contact's photo> 'Notifications and Sounds'. In this place we will configure all the indicators of the contacts to taste.
Double check
WhatsApp has maintained a somewhat confused policy regarding ticks. In principle, the clock implies that a message is being sent, a single tick means that it has reached the servers, two that it has reached the contact terminal and when they appear in blue it is that it has been read by the receiver. In Telegram it is much simpler, the double check appears only when the message has been read.
Create Stickers
One of the funniest facets of Telegram is that of the stickers, with relevant characters from the history of music, the arts, politics, etc. representing different emotions. In addition, we have the option to create our own sticker packs through a bot that, guiding us through commands, will give us the guidelines to upload stickers to the personal account.
